We stayed in the Wave Breaker in Rodanthe. We wanted to post this on the house page on the Midgett website since our issues were more about the house than the actual realty company, but it wouldn't allow us to do it.In general, the representative was courteous and responsive with regards to returning calls. However, the level of care and concern with the expressed issues (hot tub not working when we arrived and leak in the ceiling) was limited. For the most part, the property offered what was expected but the condition of it was not great. The furniture was very dirty (visibly and smell) and some was very worn. There were a couple of places in one bedroom that leaked when it rained. Both the Wii and stereo did not work. There were doors that were damaged and the refrigerator was not in great shape, although it did work fine. The house did not look like it had been deep cleaned between seasons (we came just before the summer season started and it did not appear that bed spreads, under furniture, etc. had been cleaned). When it rained, the outdoor steps were exceptionally slippery which resulted in a fall, with a trip to Urgent Care and the ER, and a near fall with minor injury.Although we did not get to use the pool area because of the weather, the furniture was dirty and landscaping was overgrown. Again, this is something that seems like it should be part of preparation for the start of the season. As a group, we understood that a pet-friendly home may not be as well preserved as those that are not, however as people who have stayed in many different places in the OBX area, including pet-friendly houses, the condition of the property did not meet expectations and we were disappointed. Everyone in this group is pretty open-minded. We knew we were not getting a "high-end" house but took a lot of time to look for something that would accommodate our needs while also being something we felt comfortable in and were disappointed with what we experienced with this rental. Some of the positives included the proximity to the beach, bike shop, and other stores and shops. There was a lot of outdoor furniture which we would have enjoyed if the weather had been better. There was a good selection of cookware, that appeared to be relatively new, and other kitchenware (it would be great to add a couple of cutting boards as there were none). We think this place has potential to be a good option for a vacation stay with some attention to the items described.

This is THE company to work with for vacation rentals on Hatteras Island. Reservation staff is truly helpful. We have rented from them for years. This time we rented "Rodanthe Respite" and it was fantastic! Clean, nicely appointed, nicely heated swimming pool and hot tub. Comfortable beds, not hard. Easy to use TV set-up. Nice little library. Fun puzzles and games, stunning views, near the pier, and next door to the "Nights in Rodanthe" house! One of the neighbors was interesting and nice. He even offered to clean up his dog's poo in our driveway, but he is older, and we are used to it with our dog, so we cleaned it up. His dog is nice, and when we started telling her no when she would start to crawl under the fence, she stopped coming over to poo in the driveway! LoL! We should have done that sooner! Anyway, we have tried other realty companies on Hatteras Island and they aren't nearly as good. Midget Realty is awesome every time we rent from them! They're now the only company we will deal with here.

My sister and I go to the Outer Banks every year for Spring Break with our kids for 2 weeks- She rents a house for the first week, and I rent for the second- She found the perfect house for her family through Midgett, which even had a fenced in yard with grass for her dog. It was a Sunday to Sunday rental, which was a little harder for me to find for week 2, but I did find and book one.My sister got a call today (a month after booking) that the owners of her house wanted to use it that week, so she would need to switch houses!!!! They offered up 2 houses, both cost more than the house she rented and neither had the outdoor space she wanted. And only one of the 2 was a Sunday rental- meaning if she chose the other, we would have to find somewhere else to stay that Saturday night while we waited for my house rental to become available.Scrambling now to find another house that is comparable- almost all of the options we had looked at before deciding on the house with Midgett are already rented since Spring break is a desired rental week!!!!Perhaps owners should need to specify their weeks in advance!!

I do not recommend staying with this rental company. My family just stayed at one of their beach houses and many of the utilities were broken upon arrival. It's a lovely location and I really enjoyed the beach and time with my family.First the washer was broken, filled with water and the door would not open. Our clothes smelled so bad. It took two days for them to send someone to get the washer open and it never worked so we were unable to wash our clothes. I had to listen to everyone in my family complain about this all week, and did not have enough clothes to wear because I thought I would be able to do laundry.Next the dish washer broke and over time the pool and hot tub became very dirty. We were there less than a week. The pools at the houses next door did not get dirty like ours, I assume the filter was broken. In general, I was disappointed with the cleanliness of the house. Dust on all of the wall art. Cockroaches but that is part of beach life. The gas stove was very difficult to work with, light, and keep on. The fireplace did not work but to be fair the contract says it will not work until Nov 1 but the advertisement on the website doesn't make this clear. Lastly the wooden area to the beach was dangerous with wood sticking out.Book with another place if you can.

Midgett and the Meriwind house saved our vacation. We had made reservations thru another place to stay in September, when we arrived it was very smoked in and we couldn't stay, we had no where else to go,we contacted midgett and they had a house available for when we needed at a reasonable price. The staff were so friendly, we will definitely rent from them again. Thank you so much

Staying at Lookout point run by midget realty. House is nice looking but needs updates! Not enough cooking utensils, dishwasher broken in pieces, hot tub doesn’t operate the way it should and pool is disgusting!!! Called after hours because lights in back of house went out, including hot tub and pool lights and it’s “not an emergency”! It is when I’m paying for it. I do not recommend this to anyone.

We stayed at 50125 Snug Harbor Drive, Frisco, NC, 27936. Could not get into the house till after 5 pm because of cleaning. When we finally got in the house had stuff all around, never cleaned or the worst job ever. Why did we have to wait all day so we can clean the house? You need to be out by 10am so they can clean for the next person. What a joke. I would never rent a house from them again. We have been going to OBX for 6 years and always went with the same house. We wanted an extra bed room. Not worth the extra $ at all.

We rented the home Coastal Treasure in Frisco and the description said there would be a new pool for the summer. I double checked with them that it would be ready in June and they said yes.Over the next few months I checked in several times and was reassured every time that the pool would be ready. Little did I know they were cancelling other renters because the construction aspects of the pool were delayed. They gave us no warning. In the meantime, I was booking hotels/housesitters/kennels and buying swimsuits and floaties for a pool that was still under construction.5 days before we leave, we check in again and hear the pool will be ready and absolutely no residual construction, and a photographer had been taking new pictures. I asked to see pictures and was told I couldn’t see them.TWO days before we leave, they call and say there’s issues and we can’t go. Two days. They offered us a sob story but I don’t want a sob story, I want compensation from a company with record profits. I understand things happen out of their control but they could have warned us, I gave them several opportunities to do so and I was straight up lied to.As for the Google response where they seem to make up excuses, there’s an ocean right there they can jump into:)Oh look they responded! They 100% lied to us, the owner even admitted to us on FB it wasn’t ready and they were cancelling people while I was asking. And as far as the houses you offered….two houses that you wanted us to pay the thousands difference. OK! You guys also didn’t refund our friends when the power was cut to Hatteras.Twiddy is an awesome company who upgraded us to a nicer house free of charge in a similar circumstance, FYI.

We were very much looking forward to our trip this week to Coastal Treasure in Frisco (6/18/22 - 6/25/22) but learned two days before departure that the house would not be available due to the promised pool being unfinished. They blamed contractor issues. Midgett, in the future, I implore you to not make promises you can’t deliver on. We and our grandkids and their parents were all looking forward to a vacation that we’re not getting now. Please, going forward, don’t advertise features of a house unless you’re sure they’ll be there. And please let guests know earlier than two days before departure that the house may not be available. You almost certainly knew this was a possibility long before last week. That way, maybe we could have selected a suitable alternative.

if I could give them 0 stars I would. This company is focused on profit over service and their service declines yearly. Massive beach restoration project going on resulting in no access to the beach for 3-4 days from our expensive oceanfront home. Had we known we would have declined this year. They claim it's a covered event in their contract. Yet, they felt it appropriate to notify on their website at one point they claim- it isn't their now- and the project just started last week. This isn't appropriate legal notice and in fact opens them up to further liability. They try to blame everything on the owners when the owners hire them specifically to properly handle these types of issues. This was once a trustworthy family name on the island but hasn't been now for many years. Do yourself a favor and spend your money elsewhere whether you are a renter or an owner. Horrible company motivated only by greed.
