Lady at front desk was very very rude. Reserved a van or large SUV for my family and was told when we got there they only had a truck or small sedan?? Also rented car seat for my small child and was told on website they are “disinfected and thoroughly cleaned between each use” the car seat was so dirty and not to mention broken. Had to buy a car seat when we got there because no way my child could use that one. all the car seats were thrown on the floor in a room and stained/not cleaned. Learned my lesson there. Had an issue that week with my rental and called their number 10 times, no one answered any time. Then when I finally reached a general customer service agent, they said my confirmation number was not valid and they couldn’t even locate the license plate in their system. Not a good experience at all.

PSA- Customers beware, your information is compromised and a member of the staff at Asheville regional airport is charging customers for other customer rentals. Not able to speak with a manager of that location. I have several customers information that was sent to my email address.

We had a van rental reserved for 12. After waiting in line until 1245 we were told that they had no minivans available and that it would 40 more minutes. They offered $120 in compensation. Which was, at that point, we thought reasonable. When we asked why our reservation hadn't been honored we were rudely asked "had we seen the line?" that we had just waited in. After waiting another hour and inquiring again, we were given a key and we went downstairs. As soon as we opened the vehicle we smelled smoke. When we asked about it they said they knew there was a smoke smell in the vehicle but that it was hard to get out and that "some people would have accepted it". We asked if this smell was documented anywhere and we're told "no". At this point we asked to speak to a manager and were told she wouldn't speak with us and that they didn't know where she was. The agents told us to leave with the new car without a modified rental contract, which would have left us with no proof that we had legal rights to be in the car if we were pulled over. We spent the next 40 minutes waiting for someone who had the access rights to change the rental contract. 3 hours after our reservation we were finally given a car.I should mention that we are traveling with our 7 month old and that I was a breastfeeding mother with no access to food in the airport;Three hours was not an inconsequential amount of time. When we asked for further compensation for the additional 1.5 hour (3 hour total) wait and the attempt to give us a smoky car with our infant, we were told that was not possible. And again that the manager was not on site. We were also told that the manager would call us, which she did not do.

I am at the Asheville Regional Airport trying to get the car I rented in The beginning of October. Thrifty was closed and the sign said go to Hertz. There was only one person and after waiting an hour I hear about a list that I have to write my name on. Now there are about 7 people ahead of me and the lady said she’s doing the best she can do. I told her the best would have been telling me to put my name on the list.

I thought I had made a reservation for Asheville, NC but, in fact, did not. So I went online and checked all the rental car companies- all sold out, including Costco travel. Then I looked up Dollar, which I normally don't use, and lo and behold, they had cars available. I was thankful and even got an upgrade. Easy in and out at the airport.Thank you!!

I had the honor of meeting Natalie, a wonderful person, excellent customer service, who with a smile , she helped us solving a problem we faced when we rented the car. As many others who reserved a mini van, Thrifty had to split the amount reserved in two cars to accommodate parties. The problem is the following: 1- two cars means less time to enjoy as a family, 2- more time lost waiting for the other person behind you, 3- more cost in Gas, listen: if you know the demand will be greater than the offer, please do not let any 3rd party let you do an online reservation since you cannot comply; otherwise please invest in more minivan vehicles. The second car I used, the gas reader was damaged and my brother in law was so concerned if the car has gas or no. For other customers please call in advance to make sure you will have your desired car, if not reach another rental car provider. Thank You!

Went with the manager's special to get the best price available from multiple rental agencies. Was surprised to get a pickup truck, but it was an excellent vehicle and met our needs for the trip very well.

Dear Hertz, PLEASE READ THE REVIEWS AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE LACK OF PERSONNEL AT ASHEVILLE AIRPORT.I'm a Gold Plus member and had to wait in a line that stretched past the baggage carousels because there was only one agent working the counter. It took 30 minutes in line and 30 seconds at the counter for the agent to look up my reservation and hand me keys to the car, which were on the counter. I wasn't even at the counter for more than one minute but had to wait in a line for 30 minutes. No Gold Plus line. No Gold Plus sign. WTF?!The only reasons for two stars instead of one are because the agent was very nice and my car was super cool.

Did not have the car I had reserved, but put me in a truck instead because it was the only vehicle left on the lot. Ended up not being a big deal, so I give them a 4 star rating

Do not rent from this place. They charged me for smoke damage and we don’t smoke. $250!!!It’s such a scam they have going on. Check out other reviews and you see.We tried reconciling over the phone. We had the charge disputed. They recharged it months later!!!Beware!!!

Never actually saw anyone from Thrifty. Hertz handled my pickup of the car. There was no one there when I dropped it off. Over a week later I get an email my card was charged some $17.00 by them with no explanation. I tried to call multiple times, different days of the week, different times (both Hertz and Thrifty) but no one ever answered the phone. I called the main Hertz and Thrifty #s but they couldn't help or view the charge because this office is "a locally owned one". I guess they can just charge what they want and not answer to anyone. I finally had to dispute it through my credit card and I won. It seems very shady and a means of collecting extra money by hoping people won't notice or challenge it.

Not good. I do not recommend renting from this place. I reserved a Nissan Maxima for 5 days. The ads said if they don't have your car, they have an "equivalent" replacement. When I got there, they of course said they don't have it. They down graded my car "equivalent" to a Toyota Corolla, for the same price as my premium reservation. I came back two days later to see if I can trade for a Maxima or a real equivalent. They said no of course. No one is working at the Dollar counter. It is Hertz who I have to deal with when I got there. It is a switch and bait situation. DO NOT rent car from this place! That was the last time I ever rent from Dollar or Hertz again. You get what you pay for, please rent from other places.
