Lovely local u-pick farm, with excellent berries and Mr. Obermiller, the owner, is a wonderful storyteller!

Went for blueberry and blackberry picking on a Monday late afternoon. The blueberries were great though the majority of the blackberries were not ripe yet.The owner was super friendly and helpful, even passing along a small discount to us since we were short on cash (it’s cash only).

Just a little off the main road I found the Stepp's apple farm.
There was a real apple country feel...quiet (except for crows) with a peaceful view of the orchards while I sipped my hot cider sitting in a rocker on the porch.
There were friendly helpers to help me decide which apples to choose, and I even picked my own -- straight from the bins!
This may very well be my new favorite place for NC apples..

Our toddler had a great strawberry picking experience here (after a meltdown because he thought we were initially headed to the playground). Once he had his basket and found a picking row, he began counting the number of berries he picked (19) and talking about all the things we could make from his berries (cake, jelly, ice cream). An hour later, we paid for our baskets and headed to the market to pick up ingredients for a delicious strawberry shortcake. The owner was very polite and very knowledgeable. I would recommend this for parents who want to do something fun, interesting and screen-free with their child(ren)?

You have to try the hot apple cider. I drank like three cup of those. The maze is big, the apple trees are nice and have plenty to choose from, they also have an apple canon. We went on halloween weekend the temperature was perfect. Easy to get to roads are nice too. I went with my husband and children.

We wanted to experience a corn maze and u-picking of apples however we drove in/out of the parking lot. Driving up to the establishment there was absolutely nothing appealing to make us want to even get out of our vehicle. Apple trees were already picked, only a handful of pumpkins were available. There were 3 buses of kids to enjoy the experience hopefully they had a good time.

This is a great little apple Joint, great opportunities for “social media check ins” and the chicks in yoga pants. You can bring your dog or mini horse.

We have been coming to Stepps every fall for 14 years. In the past, handicapped people could drive up the long uphill main road and park on the side to go pick apples. Unfortunately now,, on weekends, no one is allowed to drive further than the parking lot. I absolutely understand the liability and limiting it BUT my wife and I will NEVER again be able to pick apples here as I am unable to walk up the hill and my wife certainly can't push my wheelchair up the rocky road. While any reasonable person will understand a company limiting it's liability they should also offer alternatives as this may constitute a violation of ADA.

We had an excellent time at Stepps. While most of the apples we had originally come to pick were gone, we got to learn about some other types of apples that we had not previously known about, and many of them ended up in delicious apple pies, crumbles, cider and apple sauce that we made at home. We pre-paid for the boxed and then just loaded them to the rims. I really liked the fact that the price was per box and not per the weight of the box, as it meant we could really cram them in and get some bang for our buck. Our kids ages 9, 6, and 2 all had a blast picking apples. They also loved the apple gun range, where you get to shoot some apples out of the apple cannons...super fun. They had a wildflower field, as well as a kids play area with some local bbq on site. All in all, it was great getting to breathe in some mountain air, pick some apples and overall, really enjoyed the experience.

We had a great time at Stepp's. The apples were plentiful, the grounds were very pretty and the goodies they had available in the gift shop made for great souvenirs. I highly recommend going to Stepp's!

This small farm had blueberries and blackberries that I picked personally. They are a good size and so very good ? I am in love❤️. Pay attention to the Facebook page as they are very active and they update what is ripe each day they are open and when they are picked out. Also they are very reasonable priced just keep in mind that it is all cash! No cards or checks. Also the man who runs it is very nice and will work with you if you only pick like half a pint he will adjust the price fairly. 100% would recommend
