My aunt passed away on May 14, 2024. Wesley was present at the home when we pulled up to be with my cousin. He was very gentle and comforting from the moment he met us in the driveway. I watched Wesley and his coworker lay my aunt on the stretcher, and they did it with such care and compassion. Wesley, then, came back and answered all the questions that I had. When we met with Wesley at the funeral home a few days later, he made the atmosphere lighter for us. Instead of funeral talk, we had conversations about other things, since I know his wife, in between the difficult parts of the conversations.
I was, even, able to reach out to Wesley on Facebook with questions and the picture that was used for my aunt's obituary. Yesterday was my aunt's memorial service. Wesley and Butch did an amazing job. Wesley met us in the parking lot and guided us into the church. He, then, guided us through what would happen during the service and, when it was time for us to walk to the front, I do believe he was singing "Amazing Grace". After the service, he made it a point to instruct each vehicle on how the procession would work, and then when we arrived at her interment, Wesley and Butch made every effort to make us comfortable.
I will forever be grateful for Wesley and Butch. They did a phenomenal job and we are blessed.

I recently lost my father, and Bass- Smith funeral home were amazingly understanding and helpful, they guided us through our grief and really made this experience easier for our family. My mom couldn't thank them enough for all their help.

Such great beautiful people. They treated the family great. They went beyond themselves to help in everyday.We felt they cared about our loved one and not so much as the money. I highly recommend them.

This should be the only funeral home you consider! They are so amazing in every step of the process. I cannot express how much of a relief it is to have such a great group of people handling the details for you when your world has been turned upside-down. They treated my late wife like she was part of their immediate family and I will never forget Katie and Rosemary's immense kindness and empathy.

Katie, Rosemary, Mitch and all of the staff at Bass-Smith were absolutely fantastic to work with in preparation for my mother’s funeral arrangements. Every detail was carefully planned and delivered exceeding my expectations. I highly recommend them to anyone in the greater Hickory area. The Jack Bass building adjacent to the funeral home was the perfect venue for our funeral reception and receiving.

What an incredible experience my family and I had with Bass-Smith funeral home. When Bass-Smith Funeral arrived at my mother’s home to pick up her body shortly after she passed, Chris came in, introduced himself and gave us his sincere condolences for our loss. He then took the time to answer our questions and let us know that we were welcome to come to the funeral home the next day either morning or afternoon so they could review the services they had available to grant my mother’s wishes for her funeral. The next day we met with Wesley who reviewed the viewing and cremation package that suited my mother’s wishes. The cost was incredibly reasonable. He saw to it that we had a wonderful, caring Pastor for her services that took the time to contact us and learn about the type of person my mother was so he could provided a personalized service. Wesley also saw to ordering the flowers for her casket on our behalf which were beautiful and after the service, they delivered the flowers to the local nursing home as per my mother’s wishes. When we arrived for the service, we were in awe at how perfectly they captured my mother the way she was before her illness. She looked absolutely beautiful! What an incredible job they did. They also offered their assistance in completing the life insurance forms even after I paid them for the services. This is one of the few funeral homes left that is still family owned and operated and you can tell this by the personalized, quality services they provided. I would highly recommend them to everyone.

The people here are really kind and caring Katie and Mrs Bass are wonderful They took special care of my daughter and our family during the worst time of my life.Very accommodating to the needs and wants of our family allowing us to spend time with my daughter before the service even allowed my other daughters and her sisters and nephew and cousins to prepare her body for the service.They have a beautiful dining hall which they also allowed us to use and decorate the way we chose.They even brought a huge.purple and gold ribbons to place on the hearse because they knew purple and gold was her favorite colors. and even more small things to make sure India was beautiful and laid to rest nicely. I hope I don't ever have to go through such a horrific time again a very my child or anyone but if the time do come or shall I say when the time come I will be using that Smith again thank you all for everything you done you went out of the way to make sure my daughter was late to rest nicely I so much appreciate you

I have never seen a funeral to make someone look so natural .Wesley has been the most best funeral directors I have ever met.I highly recommend this funeral home to anyone.Its u ever get the chance to work with him he is the best.

I would recommend them to anyone. They made my stepdad look like he was never sick. Everything that my mom told them she wanted they remembered it all and done exactly what she wanted. They made this experience a whole lot easier for all us.
