About Frye Regional Medical Center
Frye Regional Medical Center, part of Duke LifePoint Healthcare, has served the Catawba Valley community since 1911, providing high-quality and compassionate care. The hospital features 355 beds and offers specialized centers such as the Brain Center, Cancer Center, Heart Center, Lung Center, and Women’s Center with a Level III NICU. Additional facilities include a 32-bed Emergency Department, a 29-bed Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit, and the Frye Regional South Campus, an 81-bed adult behavioral health hospital. Patients often praise the caring and knowledgeable staff, highlighting their kindness and willingness to offer support beyond medical needs, such as bringing blankets or water. Many feel well cared for during procedures and appreciate the friendly, welcoming environment. However, some reviews mention frustrations with administrative and communication issues, citing long wait times for paperwork, discharge delays, and difficulties in reaching staff or the business office. These delays can be frustrating, especially when patients are told they will be discharged but remain waiting for hours. A few reviews also express dissatisfaction with the hospital’s responsiveness to family concerns and administrative processes. Overall, Frye Regional Medical Center is recognized for its professional and caring medical staff, but improvements are needed in communication and administrative efficiency to enhance the patient experience.

The Interventional Radiology group worked me into their schedule when I had problems with one of the drainage lines from my kidneys.

I went to Frye Medical Center physical therapy department for back pain and was fortunate to be assigned Nathan Barr. He not only recommended exercises that provided immediate relief but also developed a plan for long term recovery. He was a very patient PT and a great teacher providing how and why each exercise worked.
