I shop here a lot on the weekends and I have never felt like I was so unwelcome quite like this with such poor customer service, it felt as if we were an inconvenience for them. We also both work in customer service so this really upset me to be treated the way we were treated. I don’t write reviews or make calls to complain because I just chuck it up to people having a bad day and wanting to go home but tonight was completely out of line. I will share my experience in hopes something is done and training on customer service is added.
We got there around 7:50 did some shopping for groceries, things for my girls and the house never having an issue or causing one. At 8:35 a store associate or manager behind the counter yells over at us down the aisle that they are closing soon and she just to let us know but her tone in her voice was off as if she wanted us out now and wanted us to know it. My boyfriend says ok we’re sorry we didn’t know. So we pick up our last items and headed to the counter the time being maybe 8:38 to check out. Both lady’s were helping check us out and I kindly asked what time do y'all close she said very quickly and rudely said 8:30 in return I said I’m so sorry I didn’t know we thought it was 9:00pm. Confused I Never said exactly what I thinking which was if your closing @8:30 why wouldn’t you have said I’m so sorry we are closing or before 8:30 let your customers know you we’re closing.Not once did anyone say anything or even seen a sign on the door with hours so we assumed 9pm, which is what it says online. One lady walks away and says she’s going to do a walk around to check. I pay the other lady 149 dollars she tells me to have a good night and I say thank you have a good night and at this point the other lady is now standing at the door she unlocks it, as we walk by she says nothing so I said thank you I hope you have a great night, she doesn’t say anything and acted as if she locked the behind us. As were loading the car a lady walks in, nothing is said. I walk the cart back to the cart stand the lady is staring at me and smile so I smiled back. As I’m walking back to my car a gentleman and his son gets out of their car and walks in, again nothing was said and again I'm confused. Each time the lady that told us she was closed were watching us has a smirk on her face. The lady that checked us out locks the door behind the gentleman this time it is around 8:48. As we’re pulling off the lady is waving at us rudely with a huge smile on her face so I said pull back in because I’m very confused as to why, and I walk to the door to ask why and what we did for her to be acting the way she was acting and to get her name. I knock on the door both looked at me then turn and looked at one another and just stands there. At this point I’m frustrated because I feel as if we have done nothing wrong and were treated as if we did. They both walked away. I walked back to my car and looked for the number for corporate. I'm very disappointed in they way your staff treated us and how I am now left to feel as if we done something wrong and that we were unwanted.

What should be a decent location just cannot compete with wages in Highlands so it is never staffed properly and those who land jobs here either can’t retain a job or move on quickly : this location is in a permanent temporarily closed status and has pretty much run off most customers who would otherwise support it . Staff if any can usually be found outside “smoking” ……… This location is a complete joke .

I routinely rate Dollar General stores as a five-star, but today is an exception. I came in for a quick purchase. I needed a bag of ice, so I couldn't do a self checkout. --- It took a while for the clerk to come out of the back room and assist me with my purchase. --- Also, I was taken aback by how messy everything was behind the counter and in the aisle. Really messy store! Come on, guys. You are better than this!

Employees are obviously overwhelmed and underpaid. The location is temporarily closed due to staffing issues. You never know if the store is going to be open. Cannot trust the products you buy either. Bought coffee creamer 4-17-23 only to get home and realize it had expired 2-21-23

Could this store ever be opened? Always closed at random hours. Shut down at 10 am today. Just close for good.

I went to the Highlands DG at 4:45 both employees sitting in the back. Doors lock sign said temporary closed. The general sign says open until 6pm. Not happy customers.

What a joke of a store and the only employee working lacking serious customer service skills. Stopped here to buy stuff for our Airbnb. I was going to use the restroom but it was out of order. I’m 30 weeks pregnant and asked to use the employee one as there were no other restrooms near us. He rudely said no. My husband even asked him to reconsider since I’m pregnant. I figured this would be an exception since their customer bathroom was out of order. He said no again. I’ll kindly go spend my $50 dollars elsewhere!

The hours on this dollar general are terrible online say 8-10 and in store they make their own opening and closing hours due to short staff. Opening at 1pm and closing at 7pm. Corporate need to come and fix this! This may not be staffs fault because it’s hard to hire people. But if they open a dollar general and they see it’s going bad CORPORATE should send someone to help.
