It’s FANTASTIC BBQ, great sweet tea, and some of the best hushpuppies out there, but one glaring problem and a couple other smaller ones are more than worth taking back a star or two.The glaring problem is that this is the smallest BBQ sandwich you’ve ever seen. As in, smaller than the palm of your hand! I didn’t even know there was a company out there that made buns this small, so the folks at Morris BBQ must’ve specifically gone looking for “how to make the world’s smallest BBQ sandwich” on purpose. The portion size is honestly insulting. It’s so small it would still be insulting even if the price was cut in half.A slightly smaller issue is the tipping screen at the takeout window if you use a credit card. What part of handing a bag through a door could possibly entitle someone with the audacity to ask for a tip?The smallest issue is that the televisions detract from the vibe of the place - folks come here to eat BBQ at a shack on the side of the road that’s been around since the early 30s… and absolutely nothing about that says “television, please”.Overall it’s great BBQ and great people, but it’s simply not worth making an effort to come back unless the portion sizes triple or more at the VERY least. The way that it is now, a toddler with an Easy Bake Oven could make you a better meal - it doesn’t matter how good the food is or how nice the people that make it are if you’ve traveled all the way out here just to get fed 3 half-bites that you carry out yourself after being asked for a tip.…and for the record, I’m only a normal guy just over 6’ tall that weighs well under 200lbs. A fat person with an appetite would probably throw a fit if they saw the cupcake-size sandwiches at Morris.

What a great find we made today! Morris Barbeque just outside Hookerton in Greene County isn't a place you'll just drive past on your way somewhere else. Maybe a friend will tell you about it, or you'll hear of it and look it up online. Whichever way you get there on a Saturday -- the only day they are open -- you're in for a great barbeque experience. This three-generations family business cooks some of the best whole pork barbeque you will find, even in a barbeque restaurant-rich area like Eastern North Carolina. The chopped 'que is very clean, with a flavor that's distinctive yet understated. Paired with a mild slaw and simple, delicious hushpuppies, this is as authentic as it gets. An added highlight is the "bone plate," a healthy portion of the "cracklin" pieces from the outside of the hog, crispy and flavorful and excellent when dipped into Morris's sauce -- a clear vinegar and spices product that the restaurant proudly touts by saying, "if you can't see through it, it's ketchup." The restaurant also offers rib plates -- better call ahead by Wednesday, for the Saturday serving -- to place an order so the limited supply won't sell out (as it always does) before you arrive. Homemade desserts round out the menu with sweet notes to finish off the flavorful barbecue and slaw. Morris's is not to be missed if you are a fan of Eastern North Carolina style whole hog, chopped pork barbeque! Come to dine in (the space is small), take out, or eat outside at picnic tables under shelters. Prices are very affordable -- in fact, they're a notable value for the quality of food produced. Come prepared to relax, chat with the other folks ordering and waiting for their paper sacks full of Morris's best, and then leave with a satisfied appetite and an appreciation for the artistry of this place.

Man, I love this bbq. Those skins are a must-have. You all have to call earlier in the week to reserve food cause they sell out fast. Trust me! I promise you'll be back after eating here. Small town foo, but Big love shown.

Morris BBQ never disappoints. I had a BBQ small plate special which includes cake. Server gave I choose or he chooses." I let it be Server's choice. Creamy lemon cake. Hush puppies were hot, and slaw was very good. Of course, the BBQ itself was just what I wanted.

Simple BBQ. Worth the trip. The small plate special was the perfect amount of food and the double chocolate cake was exceptional. If you want ribs call ahead and put an order in. Rick was awesome.

I ordered ahead and picked up the order. Owner was very professional and friendly. I ordered spare ribs and chopped Bar-b-cue meal. With Cole slaw and hussy puppies, skin's. Food was good. The total cost was a little bit pricey. I will recommend this store.
