Good service. Fair prices. Went there for breakfast before hitting the trail. Asked for the biggest meal. Plenty of food to fuel up the day's hike!

We have been in Hot Springs dozens of times and never stopped at Smoky Mtn Diner because there is always a line! Now we know why!!!! During the week, the wait is not so bad. I cannot believe we skipped this place, at the very least we should have done take out. Service is excellent, the ladies are all super friendly. The vibe is local, the people all knew each other by name. I could not resist, ordering the Chicken Fried Steak. Unbelievable how much food comes with it! I want to go on record, the absolute best biscuits and gravy I have ever had. My wife, southern bore and raised concurs and she is the biscuit and gravy goddess………. It was so good, every morning we ordered bacon, egg and cheese biscuit and biscuit and gravy to go!!!!! Super comfort food! Love this place and will be a designated stop on our visits.

We loved this place. After day hiking for a few hours, some meaty southern food hit the spot. The staff was super friendly.Kid-friendliness: They have a shelf of kids books. Some of the staff are teachers at the local schools. Best of all, no TVs in the dining room.

In my opinion Smoky Mountain Diner was a five star dining experience. The food was delicious, the customer service was amazing, and the atmosphere was very cool. The food I ordered was the “Appalachian Challenge” which is three 8 oz patties or 1 1/2 lbs of beef with a side. I picked the “seasoned twist fries”. And if you finish the whole thing you get a delicious strawberry cobbler. After a three day trek on the Appalachian trail I was hungry enough to finish the whole thing and get put on the Facebook page. The waitress was very kind and I got our food quickly. I always had a full cup of water. The building was full of cool pictures, newspaper articles, and quilts. On the back of the menu there is a section that tells about the rich history of the building and the restaurant. In conclusion my experience was all positive with Smoky Mountain Diner and that is why I am leaving a fives star review. I would recommend it to anybody.

We have eaten breakfast here before (get the breakfast skillet, for the love of all that's beautiful), but this was our first lunch experience at the Smoky Mountain Diner. It was...well, I mean, look at all the stars!I had the Ultimate Club Sandwich in a white wrap instead of toast. It was glorious. I don't know where they got good tomatoes in North Carolina in the middle of January, but they did. The fries were crispy and not greasy. My wife ordered the meatloaf sandwich but was reticent to do so. Her momma makes fantastic meatloaf, and she was afraid the meatloaf at the diner would not meet her high standards. She took one bite, and her eyes rolled back in her head. She almost drooled. The texture was perfect. She could taste the green bell pepper right away. Huge portion, too! She couldn't finish it, so I helped. Absolutely outstanding meatloaf. Even the tater tots were good.Even better than the food were the people. We were greeted by a friendly person who said, "Hello, friends!" Later, we were told by an awesome local named Roy that she was also the third grade teacher at the school. [Shout out to Roy, who was a great conversationalist.] We were also taken care of by a lovely woman with white hair and a big smile (I'm grey-headed and hope my hair goes that white someday). We left feeling welcomed, appreciated, and absolutely stuffed. Back at the cottage, my wife had to sleep it off. The carb coma is real.Great food, friendly people, and a wonderful experience overall.[Oh: that's some fantastic sweet tea. Not overly sweet and you can taste the tea twang. It's easy to mess up sweet tea. These folks don't.]

I have loved this place for years! And, as a "true" born local, it's still the best around. Local owned and local pride in every bite.

Seemed really good. Staff was friendly. Didn't get the full experience as they had limited new year's hours.

This place has it all. Home cooked food and great staff. I had the meatloaf, and the wife had a veggie plate. We'll be back to try the pizza next week.
