Dr. Maynard seemed capable and nice. His office had loud hateful political talk radio on and the staff were constantly whining and cursing about a computer problem. We will not be back

Lost my business of 15+ years. All of the receptionist are as rude as they come, and will talk down on your for THEIR MISTAKE. Doctor came out and didn’t even care to ask me what I thought of the situation though… Very telling

I will start this review off by saying that Dr. Maynard is an amazing doctor and very nice and helpful. As everyone knows a good customer experience always starts at the front desk and this office in my opinion will never be over a one star until there is new staffing in the reception field. I was met with nothing but disrespect and annoyance by the woman at the front, while only seeking help. Even my requests for my eye information to switch doctors was met with criticism and harassment. The only reason to go to this office would be the convenience of it being the only one in Hudson but my advice is to just make the drive to lenoir or Hickory because it will be easier to schedule appointments, get orders in on time (which almost never happens at this office) and have decent customer experience.

I gave three stars because I had a very pleasant experience with the Dr. but checking out wasn't great. When I scheduled the appt for my teenage son, I explained we relocated from another state, this office is listed thru our insurance, and my son is due for his exam so he can update his RX and order more contacts and update his lenses. Upon checking out, I was told there is a $75 "contacts exam fee". I argued that this was never disclosed to me at time of making my appt or while checking in to the appt. But they would have held my son's contact RX hostage if I didn't pay. I'll add that I had to sign a paper consenting or declining eye dilation (no charge), but I was not required to consent to a chargeable 2nd exam that was not made clear to me. The words of the office staff are "its not our job to disclose". But it literally is their job as a professional to educate the new patient of your process and what will and will not be charged. I've never even heard of an office charging separately for a "contacts exam".

I had an appointment Monday but when I arrived I was told it had been cancelled because I did not confirm. I received an automated phone call Friday but I was in Hickory. When I got home and received the message I could not call because the office closed at 12. I was told they had sent out a card last Wednesday but it arrived today post marked Friday, October 11. This is the most inept bunch I have ever seen. How are you supposed to confirm when the card is not sent in a timely manner and you can't call back because the office has closed early. Also by the way last time I saw the doctor he found a cataract he had missed before. My advise, go somewhere else.
