The Grill was the best part about this place and they've now closed it. It's a shame, the food was decent.

I was in the neighborhood on business for a few days and some of the folks at the company I was working with insisted we get lunch brought in from the Low Price Mart which was just a couple blocks away. They all raved about the burgers here so I followed suit and got a cheeseburger with mustard, chili, slaw and onions. My burger was ok, nothing really spectacular, barely a spoonful of chili and a tiny amount of slaw to be found with not much flavor, actually a bit if a disappointment after all they hype I had been hearing from these folks about their burgers, some of the other folks got the double bacon cheeseburger which did look way better than mine. So then they all wanted to hit the Low Price Mart a second time in the week and I knew I wasn't taking the burger route again so I went with the Philly Chicken Sandwich and that one was really a home run. It was a really great sandwich with great flavors loaded with chicken, peppers, onions, mushrooms and cheese on a nice sub roll...2 stars for my burger and 5 stars for the Philly Chicken.

After seeing Regina J's review of this little grill, it definitely went on the bucket list, and we stopped in for a quick lunch today. This is a convenience store on the northern edge of Kernersville, with a small grill, and four small tables for seating. The place is busy and noisy, people in and our constantly, with a buzzer sounding each time the door opens. The sandwiches we tried here were very, very good - a Hot Dog with mustard, chili & onions, a loaded single Cheeseburger, and a Philly Cheese Steak. We got 2 of these as combos, and the fries are very good, though not salted nearly enough. Our drinks were fountain Diet Pepsi, and these were just awful, the mixture is definitely off here. The Hot Dog was loaded with a tasty, meaty chili and a decent wiener. The Burger was well sized, nice flavor, good outside crust coming off the grill. The Cheese Steak was exceptional, filled with beef, cheese, onions, peppers, and mushrooms, in a nice bun. We'd order all 3 again, and probably will. Jose was great - friendly and helpful. We chose to eat in, and he brought everything to the table with a big smile. We probably will get our order to go next time - the place was hot and noisy, not making for a comfortable meal, even a quick one. But if you are looking for a quick bite on the run in Kernersville, you can find great choices here.

Jerry and I met Jose, Customer Service Award Winner, who has been cooking at the Low Price Mart & The Grill for 15 years when we had lunch on Valentine's Day. We started with a Philly Chicken Cheesesteak. The crusty roll could not contain the caramelized onions, charred chicken, tender mushrooms, sautéed peppers, and melted cheese. The well balanced condiments on the Hot Dog all the way complimented the meaty dog and still emerged on their own right (bold onions & yellow mustard, sweet slaw, and a seasoned zingy chili). Every single slice of potato in our order of Homemade Chips was golden brown and crisp. The sweet Onion Rings had a wonderful crunch, and their potato wedges are on my radar for next time. When we saw the Double Bacon Cheeseburger, our jaws dropped which was actually a good thing because I don't think this gargantuan burger would have fit into our mouths otherwise. So much bacon! I'm not complaining. That was a happy chant Jerry and I kept saying over and over as we ate our lunch. The burgers were moist and juicy on the inside with a good char on the outside from the flat top grill. Topped with American cheese and stacked on a sesame seed bun, we enjoyed ours with lettuce, tomato, onion, and mayonnaise. The next time you're on the road, set a course for The Grill and fill 'er up. Check out our Food and Brew Review blog for the "Eat Here and Get Gas" review at
