“I have been living in Laurinburg now since April 2022. I love Laurinburg so far. I've not really found anything not to like. Sure, I get tired, I get frustrated waiting in lines or whatnot. I've gotten lost a few times. One of the places I stopped at was the First Bank in Laurinburg. I actually went through their drive through and asked the teller for directions. I did thank her for not minding too much that I was not banking, just asking questions. She was friendly and 'real'.

A few weeks later I found myself lost again. Well not quite as the First Bank was there where I was. I just didn't know which way to go. Can you guess what I did? Got it in one! Congratulations :) .. You are correct if you said I stopped in the drive through again. Same friendly teller. My lucky day. She asked if I had found a bank yet and I told her I believed so. I asked if she would give me any informative handouts and she did. She gave me my directions and off I went again, one happy camper. (and yes folks, it IS possible to get yourself lost in Laurinburg, especially if you are me.)

Fast forward a year or so later and I was finally ready to move my banking from Texas to Laurinburg, NC. I guess you can call me a procrastinator of sorts. So I went to the bank and talked to one of the personnel there, forgive me for forgetting names. She quickly filled out all the forms, got my signature and handed me my packet. I told her the reason I chose First Bank was because of the wonderful lady in the drive through teller spot. I also let her know that I felt it was my best choice. Plus it is close to home, pretty much a straight shot from my door to theirs.”

“My name is Dicie Patterson and recently I needed help with an ACH item; well let me tell you how this young lady at Self Help Credit Union got on her. Computer Ms Halie researched back months to show the the item was not an NSF; while coworkers Ms Betsy provided input. I looked up ashamed “ holding up the line” and another lady gave me a smile and a nod I found out late it was the manager Ms Emily so to you 3 women holding down my branch of Self Help Credit Union you’ve earned 5 Stars and a shoutout you treated me as AT&T theme saying treat me like family and handle the situation; Thank You ladies.”

“Excellent service and rates compared to other local institutions. You must be eligible for membership to join and bank here but we'll worth it if you qualify!”

“When your 15 year old man child decides he’s ready to be financially responsible and open a checking account, apparently the official parenting response is: grab the car keys ? and drive to the bank you researched like you’re escorting him into adulthood itself.
So off to Wells Fargo we went.
Forty five minutes later: after providing a birth certificate, ID, retinal scans, and what felt suspiciously close to placenta verification proving he is in fact my child, Sebastian officially walked out with his own checking and savings accounts. ??
And honestly? The two ladies helping us were absolute gems. They were so patient and kind through the entire rite of passage that I genuinely wanted to give them kudos.
They even walked Sebastian out to the ATM to personally teach him the ancient banking tradition of “here’s how you give away your money.” ?
Ironically, while I have Wells Fargo too, my main account is with an online bank, so Sebastian and I were both experiencing the whole brick-and-mortar banking thing together for the first time in years. What could’ve easily felt like an online headache turned into an actually personable experience with real humans who were friendly, helpful, and didn’t make us feel rushed once.
So now Sebastian is officially ready for direct deposit of his allowance… and eventually a real paycheck. He already has savings set up with future car insurance in mind, which feels both responsible and personally offensive because wasn’t he just 8 like last Thursday?
Wells Fargo definitely has two gems ? at this location.”
