Spent a full day with Nils and a couple friends on a float trip. The fishing was great, but Nils was the highlight of the trip. He’s the man and makes a day on the water fishing better than it already is.

Worth every penny! My 15 yo and I had an epic day with Nils. My kid had never used a fly rod before, and he put 20 fish in the boat. The Watauga is beautiful enough that we'd have had an epic day even with zero fish. Nils is a great teacher and a fun companion. Highly recommended!

We were so impressed with Nils and JJ. My son wanted to have fly-fishing lessons with his buddies for his birthday and they were able to teach 8, 12 year old boys, the basics of fly-fishing in an afternoon and three of them caught trout on their own! Nils is very easy to work with and is very professional. Communication was great and he and JJ are organized, personable, knowledgeable, and very patient. I can’t recommend them highly enough!

What a fun day, and great learning experience. We were both beginners at fly fishing, and Nils was the perfect guide. He took us for a half day float trip on the Watuga River. All the positive things written about him were true; patient, friendly, funny, supportive and affirming, and very skilled and knowledgeable. He was a great instructor, and made the experience so easy and enjoyable. We learned so much, and look forward to continuing learning and fly fishing other areas of the country. You absolutely can’t go wrong booking Nils as your guide, whether beginners or seasoned “veterans”. Thank you Nils for a great day!!!

Top-notch!!! I bought this trip for my in-laws for their anniversary. Nils was beyond accommodating, friendly, and made the process so simple from several states away. My in-laws had a phenomenal time and caught some great fish. If you’re looking for a guided fishing trip in the area this is definitely who you need to go with. Can’t wait to come up and try him for myself!!!

Great day on the boat with Nil’s today! He not only taught us the basics of fly fishing, but also helped my wife and I both catch our first fish using this method. He was very knowledgeable, kind and patient with us. Our provided lunch was wonderful and we have already booked another trip later in the year! Hire Nil’s! Go Fishing!

Had an amazing day and caught fish first time trying fly fishing. It was 46 degrees and raining all day and I hardly knew it!! Lunch was delicious in the picnic shelter with guide and chef Peterson ?yum! Nils really has patience teaching this 83 year old novice because I only tangled the line once. The river was incredible and I should have taken more pictures—too busy catching fish.

Having a great guide makes all the difference! Nils has patience and a great sense of humor which made the trip so fun!!! He also knows where to go for the catches! It was our first time but wow did we catch a lot!!!! he is also very good at untangling lines! :-)

I have never been much of a fisherman, much less a fly fisher. At the invitation of a dear friend who is an amazing angler, off went my wife and I for a two day fly fishing experience. To put it mildly, it was a fantastic experience, and our guide, Nils Peterson, put together a great combination of floating down the Watauga in Tennessee the first day and fishing some terrific private water back in North Carolina the second day. We caught plenty of trout to write home about! And Nils helped us feel experienced and confident that we could do this. People travel the world to catch fish like Nils led us to on day two. Whatever you do, you should check out West Fork Anglers!

Nils knows the river! We had a blast on the river, he is so good at instructing a novice or a knowledgable fly fisherman. Put me on over 50 fish for a half day float and knew about a fish in almost every hole. Great lunch provided, snacks, drinks, and sunscreen (he thinks about everything.) This wasnt like fishing with someone you dont really know, it was like fishing with family!
