I came out here to Robeson county from Chicago, to see the area where my roots come from, went into the Sign shop looking for a "LUMBEE" Symbol T-shirt, met the owner, he not only hooked me up on the spot with what I asked, but met me with pure Hospitality & friendliness. We talked for a bit about me owning a similar business back home in Chicago area, and I will say I felt completely welcomed in this business. I Would give it a rating of 100 stars if I could! A+ Service.

I started out in the 11th grade 16 yrs ago delivering papers for The Robeson Journal. After high school I was offered my first job in advertising sales. Back then it was all door to door cold calling. Man I had no idea what I signed up for. Danny took me under his wing and gave me a chance. At my age most people wouldn't have waisted their time. He became not only my boss but someone I called on for anything. He always had an answer. He held the hat of many titles and had his hands in everything. Boy if you knew him you know he was a true hustler. After I moved on I would always remember things he said. Smile, dress your best, plant seeds, and know that it will come if you keep pushing. Every time I gave him an excuse he had a come back (not acceptable.. lol). I loved it because he was one of the toughest but best leaders. He's one of the reasons I know how a leader should be. When I was down he didn't tell me, he showed me how to get up and get passed it. If he had to ride with me to every business in Robeson county and critic me he would. I was once approached with an offer to go work for someone else at the time. When I refused the offer I was told "you rather work for a white man than your own people" lol. It had nothing to do with that. I was loyal to a man that gave me a chance and showed me the ropes. Danny would still call me out the blue and say Marlena what you up to now (laughing). He loved hearing stories of what I had up my sleeve (as he would say). I was the same he always was working on a new project every time I talked to him. I remember the time I tricked him into going to a network marketing meeting with me. he hated that stuff with a passion. He was like Marlena you got me damit. I'm saddened I'm just finding out about his departure. I really hate I didn't get to show my respect one last time. His words and memories will live with me forever. Until we meet again my friend
