The Old Gray Mare is a nice little fruit and veggie stand and country store in the heart of the Great Smokies. It sells produce, boiled peanuts, jams, preserves, jelly, fruit ciders, honey, molasses, sorghum, fried pies, fresh bread, pickles, BBQ sauce, candies, and other misc. items. They also have antiques, flea market items, knickknacks, and old antique lanterns and irons. The people are super nice and very nice. The fried pies are amazing and delicious, and the BBQ sauce is incredible. It is definitely worth a stop, worth the visit, and do not pass up this place. Lots of elk are in this area so drive slowly, especially in the morning and early evening hours.
We stopped in on our way back from a day trip to Cherokee. The owner was very nice and pleasant. We grabbed some AMAZING local blueberries and black berries along with some produce to make with supper. The home made fried pies are awesome!!!! Also, no trip is complete without BOILED PEANUTS!!!

Love it , they have the best boiled peanuts I've ever had , we get those & the meat skins & they are second to none !! A good place to get produce, honey & jellies. Don't pass them by on the way up or down , stop in !!!
