It's pretty pathetic when neither mashburn nor Mars Hill medical can answer their phones.

I've always had a very pleasant experience at Mashburn Medical. Usually appointments are spot on, not much wait time ever. And the staff most of all are very polite and friendly

January 2023 by Zona Swann
To whom it may concernMy name is Zona Swann. I had a physical at Mars Hill with Dr Dana Jones on December 21. I also had a mammogram scheduled at Asheville on December 23. Dr Jones wanted a follow up visit to discuss my results. Mars Hill where I always go had no openings so I was ask if I would go to Mashburn. My appointment was January 5at 3:40. I received a text to be there at 3:25 so I arrived at 3:15. I checked in and was told I had a $60 copay so I put it on my card. Mars Hill never ask for a copay they usually bill me. At 4:50 I was still sitting in the waiting room. No one informed me that my Dr was running late. I sat in the waiting room at a location out of my way for over 1 1/2 hours. I went to the receptionist and informed her I was leaving and I wanted my copay put back on my card because I never left the waiting room. I also told her if Dr. Jones wanted to discuss my results that I had already saw on My Chart she could call me. I’m not wasting my time sitting in a waiting room for 1 1/2 hours with no explanation. My time is just as important as everyone else’s. I’m very upset with the service at Mashburn on my first and last visit there.

Was seen today 9/29/2022 for some health reasons, called the lady at the front desk to schedule an appointment, was on hold for at least ten minutes, she answers again and I tell her I'm trying to schedule an appointment and also needed to discuss other medical issues, hence the reason I scheduled an appointment in the first place. Got the appointment and arrived a little late because I have an infant that was tagging along with me and not to mention the amount of traffic throughout the county now, my appointment was a little set back on time which was understandable. I sat for an hour and a half just for the doctor to come in and talk to me maybe 5 minutes and I stated I had other medical concerns to discuss, doctor told me I would have to make another appointment! Why. That's why people make appointments, to discuss their health. Very rushed, unprofessional, rude, not compassionate at all! I hadn't been seen at this practice in years after the last issues I had. Nothing has changed at all with this practice. It doesn't matter how many doctors you go through. If you continue to hire unprofessional doctors who lack care, compassion and competence then this practice will continue losing patients. I can't believe they actually have 4 stars. Very disappointed. The ladies at the desk and taking vitals were awesome. The lack of care however, I won't be coming back.

I really like Dr. Young. He's an awesome Doc. The "Diabetes Nurse" can be a little over the top, but she's nice. The desk staff has improved drastically.

I really cannot speak too highly of the folks at Mashburn. The level of care they have managed to provide even under the stress of the COVID epidemic is amazing.

Outstanding office and medical staff from the front desk to the Clinical to my highly trained FNP. Both my Nurse Practitioner and my Physical Therapist in the same office are the best in this region, including nearby Asheville. This office has always had unusually dedicated, intelligent, well educated doctors, Nurse Practitioners, and PA’s who want to live and work in this area

Each and every time I go to Mashburn Medical they go that extra mile to be sure we are kept safe from the viruses that can harm us. When I say extra mile its probably 5 miles as I sat in my car and watched the nurse going out to the next patient as they wait until there turn to go inside and she does the same when there back in the car as she rushes out there medicine. All this said as you are walked in it’s a sense of safety I feel this going in. Because I’ve waited in my car until my time to go in and am taken straight back to get my vitals from there straight to a room and Doctor comes in. The Doctors and nurses are to me the best in the world and how they keep doing all this and still be so kind let’s me know without a doubt that just like Mars Hill Medical that Mashburn Medical is Blessed and I am excited to know this with all we have been trough. I have been a patient of mashburn medical for about 4 years now. They have done a great job of taking care of me since my strokes. I went from being in a wheelchair and not being able to walk. Now 4 years later I'm back out in the working world and doing pretty good. I do have to take things a little slower than before. I do have short term memory loss but I can still memorize things to assemble together patio furniture, grill's, lawnmower's, cabinets, so yes I'm very pleased with my doctor's at Mashburn medical center. Thanks for all your hard work guys.

I took my elderly mother there for a checkup after brain surgery, rehab, and home health and physical therapy. I told the doctor (Dr. Shelton) that she got very short of breath just walking to the car from her house and also walking just from the front door to the exam room. I also told him she was a bit confused that day and having trouble forming coherent thoughts. Her O2 was 88! She was coughing, and he said he heard something in her lungs but he wrote her a prescription for water pills and just sent her home. He never did any tests. Wouldn't a COVID test have been prudent considering her recent history?!?!?! The next day she was having trouble concentrating and her speech was slow but she refused to go to the hospital because she trusted Dr. Shelton and "if he said I'm ok, I'm ok." The day after that she was taken by ambulance to the hospital with O2 of 83 and confirmed COVID. 10 days later my mother, who had just beaten a massive brain tumor was dead because of the incompetence of this doctor. Don't trust your health, or the health of your loved ones to this practice.

Mashburn Medical Center is clean, friendly and busy. The service I receive is excellent. My doctor is dedicated to making and keeping me well. Unfortunately, it takes some time to be seen. Too many patients, not enough staff, but once the doctor comes in the room he is not interrupted and talks directly to you and not a computer.

I received very attentive care at the Mashburn Center in Marshall. The girls were kind and thoughtful. Dr. Shelton was attentive and listened to my concerns. He was very patient and spent time explaining and making recommendations. I was very pleased.
