The people who work here are so nice! I have been to several DMVs in the Charlotte area due to my teen drivers, and this location twice. Every staff member has been patient and kind- even when we had the wrong form printed they sent us down the street to a store with a printer and let us get right back in line on a busy day. Fridays are def the busiest so best to come on a Wednesday.

The credit card machine is broken right now, and they just asked the customers if they have change. First of all, make sure you have enough money in the safe in case this happens. You are the DMV. There is barely any C tickets being called, and when I asked why there weren't that many on rotation they said "we don't have that many people that can do C tickets." Well, maybe theres some room for training opportunities. Also, maybe don't schedule so many driving test appointments on the same day. If you space them out you wont get so congested. Sorry excuses don't work for me. I used to work at the DMV in virginia years ago and we took care of our in house customers first. Unfortunately, they are a little lazier now after covid and prefer to have appointments. Get it together.......What a disaster and, a disappointment.

The most rude people who don’t want to help Cuban citizens who are legal residents. Because they can’t speak correctly in English the road signs. They treat people like they are nobody and talk down to them. Worst DMV I have ever been to in NC

I was extremely and pleasantly surprised with the updated system and the friendliness of the staff. Don't get me wrong, this is still the DMV, everyone is held to an equal standard of paperwork and testing. However, what I expected to experience was not at all what I encountered.The new QR/Text Message check in system is really useful, however, understand you will need at least a working phone or sms text ability in order to check in. I'm sure they will accommodate otherwise, just be sure to let them know this is the case.This system allows for incredible easy of movement and lack of need for long and annoying lines inside the building. They text you exactly when you need to be and where, which is useful if you need to use the restroom or what have you. Having said that, they wont wait around too long for you to show up so please be respectful of the staff and others waiting.I had quite a bit of things to take care of at this location having recently moved and the amount of time it took was a fraction of what I expected. I estimate it took at least 60 percent less time that I expected on a good day. The staff was very friendly, accommodating, hospitable, and relatable and I couldn't have been happier with the experience. Highly recommend this location, they also have a web portal that shows you wait times before you even head out!

After reading some negative reviews, I was initially hesitant about visiting this location. However, I’m grateful that I decided to give it a chance. To my delight, I found ample parking right by the entrance and plenty of available seating. The staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating. My experience may have been influenced by the fact that I arrived early in the day as a walk-in without an appointment. Armed with all the necessary documentation and a positive attitude, along with a bag full of things to keep my small child occupied (which, as it turned out, I didn’t need), I had a wonderful experience. The gentleman helping me, even gave my child a tiny origami bird, which was a delightful surprise. I was in and out within an hour. In my opinion, this establishment truly deserves a five-star rating.

If you call this DMV direct, their phone message says open on Saturdays from 8-12, but let me save you a trip, THEY ARE NOT OPEN ON SATURDAYS!!!!!!!!!

PARENTS PLEASE LISTEN! Do not take your child here for their road test. There is at least an 80% chance it will be a complete waste of time. The 3 point turn on the road they have you do it on is impossible to perform in anything larger than a very small car. I tried it in our SUV. Completely impossible. My guess is they have to spot you for failing 2 things and once you fail that 3 point turn they are then making something up. Tester had my driver back up and stated she was on the wrong side of the road. We have that overhead camera view and my daughter said it showed her on the right side of the road and I believe her. Once you fail the three point they are just quickly looking for something to fail you and get out of there. Dont bother. Go to another DMV even if its further away. Complete waste of time.

Honestly I’m still here waiting to be assisted for a road test. It is currently 2:26pm and we arrived at around 11:25 am. It’s been horrible so far, one of the ladies at the front was extremely sweet, the second was decently polite until I went back to the desk after 2.5 hours of waiting about my place in line, then she acted annoyed after a person who was completely unrelated to me asked about the requirements for a real ID. It turns out I was seated in the wrong place and I’m assuming the annoyance of wasting a few hours of my life in a place I don’t want to be in is nothing considered to the absolute monstrosity doing a job you’re paid to do is. I’m not sure about the rest of the experience since I still haven’t gotten to do the road test yet, it could be great for all I know but at this point and time, I’ve been sitting here rotting away long enough that I’m pretty sure I forgot how to drive.

These people are very rude. They should close the office if they hate there job so much. Will never go here again. Will drive to polkton or hamlet next time

Employees at DMV in Monroe are very friendly and create great atmosphere, I actually liked getting my ID card there! The customer service process is perfectly organized!

I advise to avoid this DMV. We were there for 3 hours without getting called. The lady at the front desk had a very rude attitude. Rather go to another office, where you are respectfully welcomed and helped.

Great communication and customer service! I had to reschedule a few CDL skills tests. The supervisor was extremely helpful and efficient!
