I reserved a mid-size SUV through Expedia, and they don't have it when I pick it up. I was offeredToyota Corrola, which is a downgrade. But when I got my e-receipt, I found out I was charge over $30 more than my original contract. I had to call customer service line to get it adjusted. Who does business like this, charging more for a downgrade?

According to Avis customer service, this location does not participate in the rewards program so your rentals from / returned here will not count towards your rewards!! Extremely disappointing and this is not disclosed ANYWHERE. I have rented with Avis for years and have worked up to presidents club status but being an Avis member of any level means nothing here. I have rented from this location on numerous locations solely due it being the closest Avis between here and New Bern. Based on poor customer service, I would chosen any other Avis location after my first visit, but that hasn’t been a reasonable option. It’s a dread every time, but unfortunately that is my works required rental car co. Having the app doesn’t help you with this location. Heck they don’t even have a trash can for you to throw your trash in when returning the car but then charge you if trash is left. They also only let one customer in the building at a time and will blatantly point at the sign on the door if you attempt to come in while another customer is present.After reading several of the reviews below, it seems I am not the only one severely unimpressed by the customer service at this location. It looks like Avis business responds, so why not do something about to location to improve it?

Never, ever, ever try to rent a car from here. The attendant was livid with me from the second we walked in the door and refused to accommodate based on the fact that I made the reservation online. I have never been spoken to so disrespectfully, this guy needs a new job NOT working with people.

Poor costumer service at the rental store. I was not made aware that if I turned the SUV in early, that I would be charged more, even though I asked if I need to turn it in before the date due to return, it would be no problem. No where on the contract did it say I needed to return it at the same time as the pick up time. I was charged for an extra day at a higher price, for being 2 hours past the orginal pick up time. Called costumer service and was told this information is online, it was not on the contract I signed. The best they could do is refund taxes and fees.

The owner and worker was great service was a 10 car was a 10 and overall was a 10 never had such great ride in my life and over all good pricing we will be back many times to come.

made a reservation for an economy sized car online. went through fine. when i showed up they said they only had this huge silverado available but i could exchange it at another location. luckily it was in the way to my final destination. when i got to the second location, no staff appeared for 20 min.

This appears to be par for the course at this location.We booked and pre-paid on line, because you know, it’s 2023, not 1984.When i went to pick up the car the owner belittled me, for1) booking on line (please someone tell him is 2023)And2) for pre-paying for our rental car.Yes you read that correctly.He went into a long drawn out boomer style rant about booking on line.Then rather than handing me the paperwork or the keys he decided to waste my time explaining how important HE is, and how unintelligent we were for booking ahead.His tone was abhorrent, his demeanor was atrocious, and he was incredibly rude.It took so long that my wife came in to see what was taking so long.He then took it upon himself to belittle, and berated my wife in the same manner.He didn’t hand us any paperwork, or keys until he was done with his soapbox rant.Renting a car is supposed to be a convenience that you pay handsomely for. This man made it ANYTHING but convenient.I was ready to be done with AVIS 100%, but the return (in a completely different location) was the easiest thing ever.It’s clear the problem is the man who identified (and glorified) himself as the owner of the Morehead city NC location on highway 70.I will use AVIS again, my wife and I are both medical professionals who have travel positions for employment, but I will NEVER rent from this location.I suggest you do the same.

The man that runs this location in Morehead City, NC is the most unkind and unprofessional manager that I've met since I've moved to the a year ago. I rented a vehicle online that had a Lockheed Martin discount. Family has the opportunity to use this discount and make the reservations without employee. I rented a full sized vehicle for a few days. Pat was rude the minute that I walked into the office. Barked at me that I they only allow one customer in the office at a time. Privacy issues. I sat outside until he was finished waited to be sure he was ready for me and entered the office. He rudely stated that my Uber left and that I was lucky that he had vehicles in his lot. Not a "hello how may I help you?""Sorry for your wait." "Thank you for waiting." He was abrasive and rude. Asked me if my reservation was for work or leisure I replied leisure he frantically told me that I cannot use LM family discount because I'm not the employee. All this time I was texting my husband letting him know how disrespectful and unprofessional this person was. He went on that it was about insurance reasons and removed the vehicle and discount and asked if I was a USAA member. I was speaking with him in a monotone voice because he was so upset with figured I would try my best to temper the situation. I read him the LM code description and that spouses were also entitled to use the code that was entered and that LM also covers the damage waiver. I ended up getting a vehicle that was 3 times the price I originally secured and he would not change it. Another customer, a women, walked in during our transaction and he also barked at her about one customer at a time. She replied with sheesh and sat outside. I think he does this because he is a rude person and there aren't witnesses to confirm his ugly behavior. I was walking up to the door, still in the lot and he barked at me that I needed to get the mileage. I did was I was told even though I knew that was his job to check in all vehicles. There was a customer inside so I waited outside. He told that customer to wait outside so he can finish up with me. I recorded the entire interaction with him bc I knew it would be harsh. After a few minutes of his b berating Me, I told him that I was recording the conversation. Boy did his tone change for a minute. It was no better but he changed. He refused to refund my money. Told me I must be a horrible realtor and threatened to call where I work. Love that some stranger looks me up on SM to threaten my career. I made it easy for him and left my business card which his young associates tore it up and threw tossed it. I'm not sure if she was protecting him or was taught to treat people this way. He threatened that he was going to call the police if I did not leave once our transaction was finished. Of course I would leave, being in his presence was scary. I did receive my $109 credit and 3 days for free from Avis customer service. I guess being a manager who berates his customers losses money. Be aware when you go into this office. He should lose his job. It's hard to find people yo show up. This is the garbage you get.

I don't know who answers the phone at the Morehead City location, but he is rude, and has a know-it-all attitude. There are other options in town and I'll be taking one of those instead. Get someone with a little more customer friendliness to answer the phone.

Incredible rude and condescending operator. Would rather stand and argue with customers saying that he locks the doors in 5 minutes instead of helping customers get their vehicles. Avoid it if you can.

Not only was this efficient, it was very professional! Prompt, courteous service expedited by an amazing customer service representative. Not only was she helpful, but gave me the best opportunity to save money while providing a friendly and positive experience.I WILL DEFINITELY recommend and return to this location as I felt I was dealing with family!

I was stranded, exhausted and hopeless by the time received some insider information that Avis of Morehead had availability. I felt like I was in an episode of Seinfeld. I had terrible luck with all of the other rental car companies in the area (they know how to take the reservation, but don’t know how to keep the reservation) but when I got on the phone with Holly I just knew my luck had changed. Even with the vehicle shortage that is plaguing the area, she was able to get me in a car just before closing time. Thanks Holly, you’re the best!

Reserved a vehicle and started to head up and called to make sure that they had the vehicle there. They didn't. I asked the woman how can that be I made a reservation although I couldn't fully understand her she was very snippy about how online reservations don't mean anything. She was very unprofessional and the experience has soured me on Avis as a company. How can I trust any reservation I make anywhere if online bookings don't mean anything. I'm just glad I didn't prepay, who know what disaster I would had to deal with getting my money back.

Pat Brennan was incredibly rude, condescending, and downright venomous to me for no reason. Some of the worst treatment I have ever received as a customer. His behavior is unstable and he was physically threatening to the person I was with. Also the car I rented was covered in dog hair. Beware of this location.
