About UNC Health Blue Ridge
UNC Health Blue Ridge is a well-maintained hospital known for its caring and welcoming staff. The hospital’s interior is beautiful, cozy, and spacious, creating a comfortable environment for patients and visitors. Many reviews highlight the exceptional care provided by nurses and staff, who are described as loving, friendly, and full of southern hospitality. Patients appreciate the compassionate treatment, especially during critical moments such as emergency care, childbirth, and routine procedures. The labor and delivery unit is highly praised, with many choosing this hospital repeatedly for childbirth because of the attentive staff and excellent service. The outpatient surgery center also receives positive feedback, with patients noting the phenomenal staff and providers who make procedures smooth and comfortable. However, some concerns are raised about communication issues. There are reports of rotating staff not always providing clear handovers, leading to confusion among nurses. Patients also mention that doctors often do not communicate directly or promptly about test results or treatment updates unless prompted. This lack of communication can leave patients feeling uninformed, especially when they have to read their own test results or find out about their loved ones' procedures unexpectedly. Additionally, some patients experienced delays or lack of updates during emergency visits, with one describing hours of waiting in pain and being billed as if they received full emergency care despite limited treatment in the waiting area. Overall, UNC Health Blue Ridge is recognized for its attentive staff, cozy environment, and quality care, especially in labor and outpatient services. Nonetheless, improving communication between staff, doctors, and patients could enhance the overall experience.

I had a great experience in the ER. I had never had a kidney stone, I thought I was dying. Pain medication given. Staff already told they were betting it's a kidney stone. Different pain medication given and diagnosed with testing. The state was right on it and very attentive

Our son is autistic and the staff was fantastic with him. Adam Reid PA-, the nurses, the radiology techs all were so patient with him and worked with him and his needs and didn’t brush anything off ads most people would. Dr. Freeman was amazing as well.
