I have been an animal lover since I was a little girl. There was never a time in my life that we didn’t have pets in our home. Dogs, cats, rabbits, birds….you name it.Back in the 1970s and 80s, living in New York, my late husband and I raised and showed our German Shepherd Dogs in AKC Sanctioned conformation shows, with several of our dogs becoming champions. I retired from the show ring in the early 1990s but continued to have dogs and cats over the years: Now it's me and my little angel, an 8 year old Chihuahua named Chloe. I adopted my baby from a rescue 5 years ago and we are joined at the hip.We just recently moved to Morrisville and I visited Preston Animal Hospital with my baby for grooming, annual checkup and dental care. We had the good fortune to meet Dr. O’Callaghan and she is AWESOME! She is professional, patient, knowledgeable and her love of caring for animals is so obvious. Like me, Dr. O’Callaghan is owned by a Chihuahua. With all of the animals that I’ve had over the years, needless to say I’ve worked with quite a few different veterinarians in different states. Dr. O’Callaghan is without a doubt, one of the best ever. Her upbeat, bubbly personality makes me feel appreciated as a client. She cares about my baby’s health and well being, and I love that. The hospital provides excellent service in a timely manner. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and they go above and beyond to make you and your pet feel relaxed and appreciated. I highly recommend them.

This animal hospital is my favorite in this region so far. Here are reasons why i cut 2 stars. If they improve in these subjects i will update my review.1-wait time even we got an appointment. We had appointment at 4:30pm and rushed to make it on time. Couldnt grab a bite just to be there on time. And what happened when we were there on time? They made us wait 25 minutes!! So if we knew we will wait there almost half an hour , we wouldnt be stressed to drive fast not to be there late2- prices are way higher than avarage in city. A simple chest xray of my cat is $350. Dental cleaning of 1 cat is $570To be honest these prices are above North Carolina avarage

I started to come to them about six months ago. The vets and staff are incredibly nice and friendly. Recently my dog had to get a surgery, they were very through in their descriptions and what everything entailed. Both doctors I spoke to were amazing and personable and were open to any questions I had. This is the best veterinary clinic I’ve been to since getting my dog 3 years ago.

The vet techs are incredibly thorough and the most knowledgeable in the trade. The front office staff is the kindest and most in tune with understanding the patient's needs and priorities. This clinic has the best providers in the triangle. We have a goldendoodle who has suffered horrific IBS. We came to Heather Phillips after three other veterinarians couldn’t help get our dogs sickness under control. Dr. Phillips really heard our concerns and worked with us to find a diet that addressed the issue. When Dr. Phillips left the practice after her maternity leave, I was so terrified! We got set up with the new Doctor Eliza O’Callaghan. I was equally, if not more impressed, with her bedside manner. She has successfully advised us on how to transition to another food as our doodle got tired of eating the plainer prescription food. I hope she remains in NC for a while!Additionally, their front office staff goes above and beyond. They triage questions, fax records, and answer emails faster than my doctors office. I really appreciate them. Their veterinary technicians also can clip even the wigglyest dog. Thanks PAH! You guys rock.

Dr. O’Callaghan was an amazing help with my cat. After the course of action and recommendations were followed, my cat was feeling like himself again. The staff here is always pleasant to talk with and I know my pets are in good hands. I will definitely be coming back for all of my pet needs. Ps- the product recommendation for struvite crystal reduction was flawless and works wonders for my cat (photo included).

Dr. Harper and the team at Preston Animal Hospital have always treated my pets with the highest level of care and compassion. From routine visits for checkups, boarding, senior dog care for my labs, and seeing us through a cancer diagnosis and leg amputation for one of our cats, we have always had all treatment explained ahead of time, and he is excellent about communicating during your pets’ care. Highly recommend!!

I learned about Preston when friends used to take their dog here. This was back in 2019. They seemed satisfied with the level of care and I am as well. The only reason I've had to switch is that the prices are excessively high for visits, medication, everything. Not enough can be said about two of the front office staff members holding down the fort - Hayly and Emma. They are just fabulous and set the right tone that any professional would want for their practice. I'm concerned that due to them folding into the "Thrive" partnership their prices skyrocketed and they are now confined to charges by Thrive. Oddly, Thrive clinics offers packages but Preston does not. While they have some autonomy from Thrive, not offering the packages to save people money is concerning. There is one staff admin, not sure of her name, that is quite rude and she wrote very critical comments in notes. This should not be allowed. None of the feedback was shared with me and it is only because I requested all of our records that I saw what she wrote. The reason she felt compelled to write a nasty note about me is because I asked a simple question about a policy I had not heard about. This apparently did not go over well with her. With an abundance of job openings, if people are not happy or do not possess the skills necessary for customer service, there are other less public facing roles they can find. For better or for worse, these are the folks that provide the first and lasting impressions. The vets provide exceptional care but there are so many vets in the area to choose from that offer exceptional care at much less cost with very pleasant admin staff.Due to shortages of people available, this can be attributed to not being as discerning about hiring however when that changes, as we are seeing it evolving when it becomes an employers job market vs. an employees job market, I suspect staffing will change.I'm quite sad to have to go elsewhere but clients have a lot of choices, and the care of their fur babies and confidence that everyone is pulling together to make a "pawsitive" experience is important.
