January 2024 by Zaappp !!!
I called this branch to get a loan payoff on a loan that was recently generated. It was a vehicle loan that was purchased on a weekend, out of state, and the rate was ridiculous but I knew I could refinance later. I obviously didn't have a loan number but as with anyone, I have a number of personal identifiers...SSN, Address, Name, Phone Number, and Make/Model, and VIN# of the vehicle.Without asking for any information, I was told that there would be no account number or loan payoff for at least a couple weeks. No questions were asked, no effort was made to TRY to look up anything...just NO...which I find hard to believe in January of 2024.So I pulled up a google map of all the Truist branches near me and noticed how almost all of them have abysmal ratings but found that the one in Matthews NC had good ratings so I took a chance and called that branch. I was immediately met with the offer to help and see if the information I needed was available. Surprise Surprise!!! I got my account number and a current date payoff. I did have to call Loan Services to get a 10 day payoff and per diem amount, but that number was given to me by the branch as well.Out of frustration, I called back to the Mt Gilead branch to talk to the branch manager to suggest they work a little more on the SERVICE side of their employee training but got the same employee as before. I was not allowed to speak to the branch manager but was told that she was the team leader and could help after finishing with another customer. I was put on hold, and I hung up after that.Truist was a merger of SunTrust and BB&T banks. I can't speak for SunTrust but I can speak as a former customer of BB&T that nothing has changed in 30 years...even their phone system sounds like it's from the 80's. It's clear that the majority of their branches still adhere to this attitude that you should feel lucky that they even offer you services, and by their ratings it seems they do as little as possible to meet your needs as a customer. My suggestion is to find a better bank or credit union.

the employees in this bank appear to be racist. they took an official bank check - considered cash - and instead of depositing into the account liek they were supposed to, they kept the money. When you contact customer service, they will make it seem like they're trying to fix the problem, but they actually won't. They'll railroad you instead of giving you the money like the laws say they have to. this bank kept 10,000 deposit beyond the date they were supposed to. then, they locked the account so customer service could not be contacted. be careful or they'll screw you over, then give you lip service but not correct the problem, like they did us.

I live in Pinehurst but work in Mt. Gilead. In the 19 years I have lived down here I have only banked with BB&T, and at this location. The employees are very friendly and knowledgable and have gone over and above each and every time I have had any issues; lost card, mortgage, stolen identity, etc. The folks at this branch went straight to work and set things right. I cannot say enough about the great experience I've had with BB&T.
