The Murfreesboro Historical Association has a very robust historic restoration and preservation program, and it is completely run by volunteers. They have some amazing online tours that you can take using your smartphone by downloading the Built Story App. One is a history tour, and the other is a Ghosts, Legends, and Lore tour. Murfreesboro is one of the most haunted towns in North Carolina. Their ghost tour has 20 stops on it, and some of the most interesting stories. MHA also hosts special events where their restored businesses, homes, and museums are open, such as their annual Candlelight Christmas Tour. Private guided tours and school tours can be arranged by request. The MHA office is located in the beautiful Roberts-Vaughan Village Center and is open Monday - Thursday from 9 am - 1 pm. The Brady C. Jefcoat Museum of Americana is open on weekends.
