There's a $3 charge for adults and $1 charge for children. A lot of history.

It is actually the Cherokee and Early Settler Historical Museum. It was three dollars per adult to enter and was worth every cent and more. We spent the better part of a day exploring their two floors of awesome relics and still didn't see it all. I really enjoyed some of the lore about the fairy tears and the moon eyed people. You should definitely come and bring the family. Even our kids were hooked on the history and art, they especially loved being gifted an arrowhead and quartz crystal each. I can't wait until the next time I am in town so I can come here again!

Trail of tears is a sad reminder of hateful behavior towards those who were murdered, lynched and FORCED to walk to a concentration camp.. Slavery isn't something to be proud of. It's shameful. There has to be better history of indigenous people and African Americans in Murphy. This picture is shameful in the courthouse! ! The artifact of "MAMMIE" should be removed from the courthouse!

It's a cool place to go to if you're into artifacts and history of Cherokee Indian history. As many times I had been in the area, and I had no idea this was there. Very small and cramped but worthwhile.

We like to go to the local museums. It's always good to know local history. Where and how people got by, made their food and generally coexisted. It's a good lesson for young ones.

Love this museum, full of treasurers: arrowheads, antique medical equipment, medical bottles, dolls, fairy crosses, soldiers uniforms, musical instruments, a pre-Braille Bible, local photos, Cherokee pottery, Cherokee Trail of Tears display on the bottom floor, a Brooklyn phone booth used in Murphy and much more Murphy historically relevant items, such a replica of the "Moon" childern and its explanation..

Cute little museum. Lots of local history and information. Kids were amused that only unmarried woman could be teachers way back when. Learned a lot about the Trail of Tears.Great activity for kids and rainy days.

Nice museum, but parking is very limited, so you will most likely need to walk a bit. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. There are a lot of different items from farming tools to guns and military uniforms.

Took an impromptu visit because my husband wanted to buy ammo at a store down the street. The kids and I loved it. So many interesting artifacts. Has both upstairs and downstairs filled with all sorts of stuff. The lady at the front desk was very nice and informative.

Fantastic collection with photos of many local donars and their respective item. Great personal touch. There is something to interest everyone: military uniforms, period clothing, medical paraphernalia and instruments, household items, dolls, Cherokee relics and historical documents, even an old monopoly game!
