One star is being generous..."lady" that answered phone VERY CONDESCENDING & RUDE. Spoke to me as if I had NO CLUE what she was talking about. EVERY TIME I tried to ask a question she put me on hold or cut me off. Was soooo worried about whether or not I had an existing account or not (answered that question 5 different times...NO). States I just needed information to decide IF I wanted to become a customer or not...OBVIOUSLY, BECAUSE OF THIS "LADY" I DEFINITELY WILL NEVER BE A CUSTOMER OF AMERIGAS...EVER!!! Tried stopping by office & sign posted that they are "permanently closed to the public and to call the number "she" answers...GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE...gotta speak to HER AND DON'T WELCOME THE PUBLIC EITHER...WHAT A JOKE!!!

My husband had an account with them. He passed away and I contacted them to cancel his contract. Even though the contract was with my husband they are going to charge me $149 dollars to remove the tank or I would be forced to pay a yearly rental fee. Is this even legal?

Easy enough to start service, though consider permit requirements and time to obtain going into it. I've had a horrible time with the main service number to arrange the convenience billing and for account related inquiries. Field technicians have been great.

You call and put on hold for an hour. They never answer!!! What's the deal how do you even stay in business?? I called three different times and still no human after long waits each time.

After using them for 16 years just changed their terms of service to require triple the amount of gas usage or they charge you more. Inquired about determining what I would need to install a whole home generator and they said we will charge you $200 just to come look at it. Imagine charging me to try to do more business with them and meet their new minimum threshold. Simply terrible - stay away from them.

I started a new account only because their name was on the tank already on my property. They were 10 days late showing up to check the tank. The tank was broken. After researching the company, I decided not to proceed with the account. They want to charge me for picking up the broken tank I've never used, or leave it and charge me rent. I'm not paying a penny to this company. The service is awful.

If I could give a negative 5 I would. Customer service is horrible. Called for a fill for 3 weeks in a row, they continued to promise the next day. They would promise to have the driver call. Never a word from anyone. They had given me a new delivery date every time. They never showed. The calls to the call center calls are sent all over the world to an answering service. They don’t speak English well at all. They are impossible to communicate with. They are not worth your time. Their reliability as a company is horrible. I would not recommend this company to anyone. The hold times on the phone were over 40 min to get any answers. I called a local company this morning and got an actual store and person. They may be a little more expensive however, if the tank gets filled and there is a person to talk to 3¢ more a gallon is well worth it to me.

Awful customer service! We completed an online request to have our tank filled over 2 weeks ago and was given a time frame to expect the delivery. The time frame came and went with no delivery. Eventually, we ran out of gas, and have no heat as a result. I called to follow up on the status of the delivery and was told that they would expedite the delivery and someone would be out the following day. The next day comes and goes-still no delivery. I call back again and am told my order will be expedited yet again and that a delivery will be made the following day (today). I just called them to ensure that someone was in fact coming out today, as it is now almost 3 p.m. and no one has been by. They tell me that all of today's deliveries have been made and there are no trucks out anymore. Therefore, it will be Monday before a delivery can be made, if they can even make it out that day. Monday will make 4 full days that we have been without heat and no one can provide an explanation as to why these requested deliveries continue to fail to be done. Obviously there is something wrong with their computer system and it needs to be corrected immediately. This is very disappointing and I will be looking into alternative gas providers in the near future.

I have never gotten through by phone and only once by email, they sent someone out to give me an estimate and never heard back from them. But they do get their bills out on time, of course mine is just for rental of an empty tank. Now in the process of finding a new propane company.

If you rent a tank from them you will pay a lot more than the market rate for propane. Make sure you are a will-call customer so you can fill your tank up when the prices are lower.

DO NOT CALL THESE PEOPLE! I called the New Bern office to have a tank delivered and hooked up. The lady I talked to was nice (the only good part of the experience). A time was set up for the delivery. I was called to reschedule because the New Bern office was moving to Morehead City. The second reschedule was due to all the delivery people needing to take care of something else. At this point I told them I would look elsewhere and that the manager could call me-the manager never did. I called a competitor and they quickly set up a delivery date, sent paperwork (Amerigas never did), and told me the total cost of setting up the tank which was half of what Amerigas quoted. Amerigas also never gave me a final total. Competition is good.

I can see why there are many 1 star reviews. Completely unorganized scheduling. And uneducated/ unprofessional staff. This is now the 4th time my leak check has been scheduled, but not completed, with no call to inform me they wouldn't be able to make it. Keep in mind I've already paid a large amount of money to have these services completed. My personal opinion is they deceive their customers amd take advantage of them by doing the their job when they want to and not when your scheduled time is. Pointless to schedule an appt that they won't make it to.
