Arrived at hotel and went to check in that’s when we were informed about the construction going on! As we were paying for our 2 night stay they asked if we had a dog, which we do. Told her it was a service pet, she asked what kind of service, I told her for my mental health. We were then charged additional 25.00 a night as those kinds of service dogs aren’t free.We then proceeded to our room, and found out our sink was stopped up! Called the front desk and they sent down someone to check it out. We were told it was just a slow drain! Called front desk and asked for another room after an argument with the receptionist we were given the room next door to us.We settle in for the night, turn on the heater as it was cold. At 2 in the morning the fire alarm goes off jolting us from our sleep! We look in the hall and all is quiet, we check the heater because it’s cold in the room. As I go to adjust the heat the whole unit starts smoking and throwing sparks out of the vent! We turn the unit off call the front desk and told we need to move to another room!Receptionist comes down to help us move again to another room. When we checked out there was no offer of a discount for our inconvenience or for the fact we could have had a fire! We will never return to this hotel it’s a fire hazard and poor management!

First off, I'm not picky about my hotels. As long as it's quiet, with clean sheets and a hot shower and no bugs, I'm good. This place goes above and beyond that. The free breakfast was nice and hot with waffles, eggs, yogurt, sausage, English muffins, juices and coffee and cereal. The rooms are outdated and have carpet, and while a bit run down were clean. The walls are a little thin and we thought we were going to have to tell the neighbors to tone it down, but luckily they quit. It's just a bit older. The location couldn't be more perfect and the view was wonderful. Price is very reasonable. Will definitely stay again. They also have coffee in the lobby 24 hours a day.

if I could rate this place a zero I would, me & my sister do not complain ever but our room at check in to say the least was a heath code VIOLATION there was mold on the pillows stains on both beds sheets, stains on the “clean” towels & when I turned on the fan in the bathroom while taking a shower mold and dirt came falling out onto the towels and in the shower. This place is a health hazard. We have my niece with us who is only 7 months and there was no way we were going to stay the night in a musky place like this. We had to go through hell just to get a refund and they had no consideration and the manager wouldn’t even go look at the room to see what we were asking to get refunded for. 0 customer service 0 cleanliness all in all SAVE YOUR MONEY you’re better off sleeping in a car than this trashy classless place.

This place could be a gold mine. Marina should be rebuilt. The rooms need to be renovated as bathroom fixtures are very old and tub needs safety rail and anti slip surface. The room was clean and, most importantly, bug free. It had good beds and bedding. The breakfast had great coffee and offered cold cereals, instant hot cereals, great waffles, fruit, juices, muffins, English muffins, scrambled eggs and sausage. Attended a wedding reception in their conference room and it was a great room with a full view of the river.

Stayed in a 2 Queen room on the 3rd floor, would have been 5/5 for the room but it was a little humid. My husband works remotely and the desk in the room was perfect and the internet connection was good. Staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Great location, easy to find and plenty of parking. My husband works remotely and the desk and office chair in the room were great.

Rooms were really nice and the beds were comfortable. It was the perfect location. My ONLY complaint would be the restrooms. They need to be completely renovated. The lady in the breakfast area was not in a great mood but we all have our days. If it weren’t for the restrooms, I’d go back for my anniversary because everything else was near perfect.

I loved the staff, I need to get the name of the front desk woman but she was very laid back and personable and I loved speaking/visiting with her. The breakfast I felt was stellar compared to some other hotels I've stayed at, some may feel it wasn't anything special but compared to other hotels and the price? I could not complain whatsoever. As far as the rooms, I can tell some of the bedroom / TV areas have recently been renovated and are greatly improved compared to previous older negative reviews I've read. I think they're waiting on renovating the bathrooms must be because the bathrooms are definitely older, but I still couldn't complain. The shower head had a "pleasant stream", but previous posts mentioned the shower heads being too low for taller folks. I'm barely 5'4" and felt I had to adjust the shower head and still have to adjust the stream of water even further to have a pleasant shower experience.Overall, I travel to this area often for overnight work trips and I will FOR SURE be staying at this hotel again as a first option.EDIT to mention the pillows: as someone who might not bring their personal pillow for each overnight stay, this hotels pillows were EXCELLENT. I find oftentimes hotel pillows are way too soft. This is one of the first hotels where I felt they had some substance to them and actually acted as a pillow, and not some easily deflated pillow.

The room itself was very spacious and the bed was comfy. The price point was great for the area and gentleman checking me in was very energetic and engaging. The bathroom was suspect! Mold looking black stuff around the door and ceiling and bathtub itself looks like a 80's horror movie. Overall not a bad stay.

Recently I recommended my in laws stay here during a family visit. They love being by the water and historic New Bern is a great spot to be. Stay went perfectly but my in laws left behind something. They made a call and asked that I pick it up. The staff retrieved it from the room and had it waiting for me at the front desk. My in laws are 80 years old and I appreciate the staff doing such a good job and saving them stress ? ? ?Nearby activities: Historical New Bern waterfront is right in front of your door. Dining shopping and farmers market just across the drawbridge. Local brewing and axe throwing for all ages.

We were only there a couple nights, and I'm usually not real picky about hotel rooms. As long as there's a bed, a bathroom, and hot showers, I'll be alright for a night or two. This place definitely had that at least. I'd say this hotel was good for a one or two night stay, and if you're not going to be there most of the day. The bed was too firm, it looked like there was paint(?) in the bottom of the bathtub which was odd, there were a lot of stains on the bedding, chairs, etc. it just wasn't great quality. But it was one of the cheapest places I could find in the area so, beggars can't be choosers. The employees were nice and the breakfast was alright. The location was perfect. My view of the river was stunning, I loved waking up to that in the morning. It made everything worth it. It was super close to everything we needed to go to. Downtown was right across the bridge. It was the best spot we could've asked for. I'd recommend it if you're only coming for a couple nights and just need somewhere to rest your head.

The location was wonderful as relates to nearby New Bern and other activities, the staff were polite and helpful, and the continental breakfast was decent. However, one simply can’t ignore that the hotel itself (except the apparently renovated lobby) is, frankly, disgusting. Moldy drop ceilings, grimy corners, stained carpet, filthy showers, musty linens, pervasive damp smell, and all sorts of other general cleanliness issues. I killed a roach on the back of my bathroom door on the first night of our very brief stay, and found another squished in the jam of our room door. Chunks are missing from wooden door frames and all the furniture in the rooms, bathroom wallpaper is discolored and peeling. It is very clear it has been a while since guest areas have been updated. If you’re not spending much time in your hotel room and don’t mind spending about $200 a night to feel a bit grossed out by your sheets, than this hotel might be for you. Otherwise, consider driving a little further or spending a bit more for a much better experience.

Our room was clean, bed was very comfortable. Extended our stay twice and had no problems, only a misunderstanding of the cleaning people who came in the room when a do not disturb sign was on the door. Spent a full week there and had breakfast every morning. Sue (the breakfast lady) was awesome, she kept everything clean and was most pleasant to talk to. Walkable to downtown New Bern, just a short walk over the bridge. Enjoyed our stay and definitely will stay again!

One of the nastiest hotels I’ve ever stayed in! Room was not properly cleaned, bed made poorly with fitted sheet on upside down, dust ruffle looked terrible, the sheets and pillow cases had a terrible odor, there was still trash beside one of the nightstands, shower too small. To top it off, my wife had to kill a huge ant in our bed. We contemplated asking for a refund but it was so late we decided to stick it out. Nothing against construction workers but this hotel seems to be their number 1 choice. As I was walking down the hall to get breakfast, they stick all their trash (pizza boxes, food containers, snack bags) outside of their doors. Thank God we only booked one night. After staying at this hotel, I feel like I need to go somewhere and sanitize my body! I took pictures to send to our daughter but chose not to post them. Thank you for your response to whoever responds but have you honestly read all your negative reviews????? I wish we had.

Stayed here for a couple of weeks while working in the area. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. They cleaned the room every day, unlike alot of the chain hotels. The breakfast was your standard breakfast, with it started a little earlier. Also wish there was creamer for the coffee. This is an older hotel and could use some upgrades but overall great stay.

From the moment I arrived it was an awful experience. The clerk argued with the ciustomer for fifteen minutes. Then the room I was assigned had no air conditioning. Assigned another room but it wasn’t until late in the night that the room cooled down. The entire place was under construction and needed it. Only one working elevator. Very disappointed with the stay. If I could give no stars I would.
