I couldn't get my license plate off and I stopped here to see if they could help .. they didn't hesitate to take on the task ! He had it off in no time!! The name got my attention and their service is above and beyond !! This is now my go to for all things car related!! Simply the best and highly recommended!!!

On vacation here on Oak Island and noticed a slow leak on a rear tire. Boys Under the Hood was around the corner from where we were staying. Called them about 8:30 AM and ask if I could have them take a look at my tire. They were booked for the day but said if I dropped it off they could work it in between jobs. They called about 11:00 AM and told me they resolved the problem. When I picked up the car they showed me a bent 16 penny nail that they pulled out of the tire. The repair was quick and very reasonably priced. So glad my son recommended these folks. A real professional business that I would use again and recommend to anybody who needs an automobile repair. Five Stars!!!

While vacationing in Oak Island we got something in our tire causing a slow leak. We stopped at Boys Under The Hood to see if they could look at it. Upon pulling in the parking lot to simply ask if they could look at it, we were very rudly told to move out of the parking lot. I explained we were not parking there but only asking a question. They didn't care and just wanted us out of their parking lot. So we moved the car. I went in to ask if they could look at the tire. I was told "No, try another service station". Which by this point we were happy to do. As we were pulling out they were filling their parking lot with no parking signs. Seems as though they do not want customers and lord forbid, don't pull into their parking lot, not even to ask a question. Rude folks there. Do not go there.

They are practically the only game in town when it comes to general auto services on OKI but still are polite, helpful and reasonable. I have used them several times on my way-out-of-warranty BMW. Highly recommend.

Got a nail in my tire & called early Monday morning. They were able to work my truck in (my boyfriend dropped me off) and much to my surprise they were able to plug it and called me in an hour and a half. Really impressive service! Will probably do my inspection here because of their great treatment of me & my vehicle.

Unfortunately our family has broken down twice while visiting Oak Island. Both times Boys Under the Hood went out of their way to get our vehicles repaired quicker than expected and got us back on the road. I could not be more pleased. Hopefully we will never need emergency repairs again but BUTH will be our first choice if we do.

Had a damaged side view mirror. Parts seemed to be available on line. Went to a competitor and asked if they would install the parts if I bought them. The answer was a flat "No."Went to the Boys, and a group of three came out to look at the car. I had the diagram that showed the replacements for the damaged parts. They agreed to order, only to find out the parts were on back order, with no projected delivery date.As the car could be driven and the mirror could be used, we decided to wait for the parts to become available. After a few weeks, having heard nothing, I stopped by to inquire on the status, and the person at the desk told me, within seconds, that the parts were still unavailable. I was impressed by the efficiency of the system that allowed for such a quick response. No, not a computer, just several "pending" repairs in a folder at the desk. I thanked the woman and headed home. A week or so later I got a call to tell me the parts were in and asked if I could bring the car in a certain day. I missed the call, and I assumed I had missed the window offered. When I stopped by, not the case. I wasn't driving that car, so I said we'd bring the car in around noon, and that was fine. They said it should be ready by the end of the day. We dropped off the car, then went off to do other things. Got the call that the car was ready, got there before closing, and all was good.Until it wasn't. The mirror glass wasn't securely attached. It vibrated, making images in it blurry, suggesting it might just fly off. As it turns out, the mirror glass is attached with some clips at the top and, yes, two-sided tape at the bottom. Apparently the two-sided tape wasn't holding.I took the car back, and the mechanic who had done the replacement came out and pressed the mirror glass more firmly onto the frame that holds it. It has been perfectly fine since. His reason that it wasn't firmly attached to begin with was concern that the glass might break, so he didn't press as hard. I get that. You might wonder why I gave 5 stars to a repair job that required a return visit. The answer is that these folks are a pleasure to deal with, they know what they are doing, and if there is an issue, they make it right. We had the option of just buying a new mirror assembly, for almost $400. The eventual repair was well under $300. If I need mechanical work done on one of our cars, these will be the folks that we go to first.

We had an issue with our car while on vacation. I called and they fit us right in. The staff was friendly, service was quick and very reasonably priced.
