Jerniman's Campground is a family-friendly island campground located on Ocracoke Island, offering a unique and enjoyable getaway experience. The campground features spacious camper, RV, and tent lots, all with convenient hookups for water, septic, and electricity. Visitors can rent golf carts to explore the area easily and enjoy amenities like picnic tables and a full, private bathhouse with four units. The location is excellent, close to the village's restaurants, shops, and attractions, making it easy for guests to dine out and explore. Access is via a ferry from Cedar Island, and although the entrance sign can be hard to see from the highway, the campground accommodates large vehicles comfortably, with sites large enough for 40- and 45-foot rigs. Guests praise the water quality, strong Verizon signal, and friendly staff, who go above and beyond to help, such as offering free stays or extra amenities in case of issues. The campground is also near the best local restaurants, museums, and points of interest, like the Ocracoke Lighthouse and the British Cemetery. Despite challenges like flooding and storm damage, visitors appreciate the friendly atmosphere, clean facilities, and stunning sunsets, making Jerniman's a top choice for a relaxing island retreat.

Absolutely the campground for Ocracoke. Really laid back atmosphere and the campground has received some much needed TLC from the new owners. They had activities throughout the week for kids and a BBQ and Live music on Saturday Evening for labor day. Glad to see this place back up and running. We will definitely be... read full comment
