The Ocracoke Preservation Society is a small museum that offers a rich look into the island's history. It provides a nice, folksy atmosphere with a porch for gatherings and interesting information, especially about Blackbeard. While it can get crowded and stuffy when busy, it is a great central spot to learn about local history. The museum also has a gift store, making it a worthwhile visit for history enthusiasts.
We love this place and try to go there every time we visit Ocracoke. It’s a plethora of information especially the history of the community of Ocracoke which we truly appreciate and love.
