The Ocracoke Preservation Society is a small museum that offers a rich look into the island's history. It provides a nice, folksy atmosphere with a porch for gatherings and interesting information, especially about Blackbeard. While it can get crowded and stuffy when busy, it is a great central spot to learn about local history. The museum also has a gift store, making it a worthwhile visit for history enthusiasts.
Ocracoke is a small island but this is worth the visit. The staff are very helpful and friendly. If you want to know more about the Outer Banks of NC, this is the place to go. And of course, the infamous Blackbeard.

Small house that has so much history. I loved seeing all the historic pictures & items plus the house is cool. There's a big parking lot but most people drive golf carts on the island. They were open M-F
