Everything about Pinehurst is first class. The golf was terrific on the 3 courses we played. The service at all locations is truly professional. The food was great at all of the restaurants.

A couple of positives and a laundry list of frustrations:
Carolina Hotel lobby smells terrible. Pine is fine, but pine with an underlying 'note' of something foul is hard to stomach.
Hotel check-in was chaotic and did not at all include enough information. Far too many steps not explained or made clear. But the team was very well trained to capture all payment right away. I guess that focus leaves advising guests of details about amenity location, and processes around staying and playing golf are extremely secondary.
Not a soul offered to help me, or my wife, carry our luggage up the front steps of the Carolina Hotel. Only when I dropped my main luggage did anyone offer to help...which entailed ensuring the bag was upright for me to carry into the hotel.
Service at one of your upscale restaurants was very poor. My wife and I sat unattended/addressed for 15mins. Ridiculous. I wanted to walk out, but my wife was concered we would be charged a $50 'no show' fee, so we stayed.
On rainy days...it would be great if resort guests received their golf clubs and golf carts in relatively dry conditions. If not possible, then provide golfers with an additional towel or two.
Not offered any alternatives (except The Cradle) when cancelling a round of golf I paid for on Saturday. Temps too frigid to play. Person I talked to stated I should have brought long underwear…not helpful or funny. I wore multiple layers when playing in low 40’s on Thurs and Friday. Mid-30’s is ridiculous. So what did I pay for?
A smaller issue for us…my wife and I woke-up each morning incredibly sore from the matress in our room. The stiffness of the matress did not meet expectation.
In hindsight, I believe the booking process pushed me into the bottom end of the course options for our trip. And no, I was not interested in #2. I don’t think the booking folks had in my mind my full interest, but the interest of Pinehurst and filling courses with very little interest from folks paying to stay at the resort.
Very disappointing because this was a birthday trip, a scouting trip for future expanded family trips, and future weekend trips. I cannot at all say that I have interest considering Pinehurst for future golf resort travel. We live an hour away…so it would have been a frequent destination spot…
In all, the sum of our trip and all the planning/saving/budgeting that went into it, I am beyond disappointed with our experience, most specifically the overall quality and service along the way.

Had a great weekend there with my son. We played several rounds. If you need a caddie, get Bob from Philly. He did a great job. Also, the stay at the Carolina was excellent.

Exceptional service. Friendly, welcoming & accommodating staff. Highly recommend making the visit & experiencing the resort & taking in the beautiful sights around the village. Golfed #5, #7, ate at the Carolina & 1895, & learned a great deal of history on and surrounding the resort from many of the staff members.
