Stopped by here last night to have a look around and buy a few things, was greeted by several employees in the store and everybody was as nice as could be, even down to the teacher giving lessons. Good prices on the couple things I picked up too, and they had a TON of inventory, happy to have them here local to me!

Guitar Center in Pineville NC misled me. When I signed up for the “Pro Plan” coverage. I was told verbally by sales that I could use the plan to exchange gear at FULL purchase price toward the upgrade of a new purchase. I tried to upgrade amps today and sales rep told me that the pro plan only covers for damage and then there would have to be a claim filed then they need to consult with manufacturer…….yadda yadda yadda. Very disappointed. That is the last major purchase I’ll ever make with Guitar Center. Their plan is just as worthless as every other place. But at least sales at places like Sweetwater don’t try to mis-lead customers. You messed up Johny. You lost good business today.

This is quite a pathetic store unfortunately. I’ve worked at a Guitar Center before and this was embarrassing. The staff was half asleep in the main kiosk, not saying a word to customers. The rental area was trashed and unorganized, with boxes everywhere and no one cleaning it. The only other person in the guitar area was a younger person getting upsold something she didn’t ask for from someone who didn’t know what he was talking about. I had to bite my tongue and walk out.Go to Columbia or Matthews locations. Avoid at all costs lol

Scam artist! Tried to charge almost $3000 just because I wanted to rent with an out-of-state ID. If you’re going to charge that much plus the cost of rental for someone with an out-of-state license aren’t you making it more convenient for them to buy it out right and return it later with out the rental fee?But here’s where the scam comes in. As they were telling me the price of everything they automatically included their $50 insurance to rent as though it was mandatory when in actuality, it is optional because I’ve rented from other Guitar centers, and that is always the case. However, had I not, I would’ve assumed it was mandatory because this was included in the price that they gave. Just imagine all the unnecessary money they are collecting from unsuspecting customers, thinking that their “policy“ isn’t optional!Who was I having all these issues with? The tall heavy guy with glasses who has no business in any type of public customer service. Instead of an initial greeting, he walked around the corner and looked at me up and down when I asked about renting. When you would try to communicate certain things to him as a paying customer, he responds with silence? Here’s an example of this and his arrogance. I asked if a certain sub was available for a rent after he brought out a much smaller one than I ever received from all the other guitar centers I rented from yet at the same price of the bigger subs. He claims we never rent that particular sub. And I said OK that just must be for this location cause at other locations I was able to rent it and he said that goes for all guitar centers. So I repeat that I’ve rented it at several other locations. Then I guess speaking to his arrogance, he says, I promise you that goes for all Guitar centers! So guess what I do? Pull up the receipt in my phone that shows I did. And guess what he does? Responds with arrogant silence. You can have a fantastic experience at a guitar center and a horrible experience at one it just all depends on the location and it seems like they’re kind of like franchises so as of now, my recommendation is definitely to avoid this one regardless of the potential business you look to have with them. It’s definitely worth a farther drive to better location such as the one in Hickory where I had none of these issues with at all!

Needs better customer service- purchased amp but was given floor model till one came in - when I call no one answers and when I go in they have no information. Basically paid for a floor amp and wasn’t given new amp. Will not purchase here again. Gave two stars for my daughters guitar instructor.

A lot better than it used to be. Good selection of things. Customer service can either be great or terrible depending on who you talk to though.

dont even bother coming to this location if youre expecting decent support or actual quality gear. i bought a bass from them two weeks ago. spent two weeks fixing as much as i could on the instrument just to be left with an irreparable neck. mind you i said "no" to the warranty because whoever their drummer guy is LOVES to be overly pushy about warranties. i had to say no to a $60+ upcharge at least 5 times. then he explained that his bud had an issue with a bass regarding the circuits and it was a $60 repair. i can fix the issue he described at home. so obviously no warranty. still had to say no another 2 times because clearly my words were just going in one ear and out the other. i tried calling today to see what my options are about this bass and the same braindead jackass that pushed the warranty picked up the phone. once he realized who i was, which bass i bought, and that i didnt get the warranty, he told me they dont have any more of my model in stock. ive never left a review anywhere til now because it is mind-numbing how inconsiderate and douchy these GC employees are. i hope yall continue to enjoy the bad rep. GO TO SAM ASH INSTEAD. GO TO RBC MUSIC STORE IN LOCUST INSTEAD. GUITAR CENTER JUST WANTS YOUR MONEY, NOT YOUR TRUST

NOT IMPRESSED. Guitar Center is now in the same category with me as a sleazy used car dealerFor context, I've been a musician for 30 years and have spent thousands at GC myself. I pre-shopped the guitar inventory at both Sam Ash and Guitar Center the night before, and made the call to take my friend to Guitar Center the next day based on my inventory observations alone. I brought them a BRAND NEW customer. I personally spent 3 hours helping my friend choose the right starter electric guitar equipment. Not once did any GC salesperson offer to assist, in fact I had to chase someone down just to get a guitar off the wall that was too high for me too reach. After several hours of shopping, I helped my friend pick out a NEW $800 Fender guitar, a $200 amp, a $150 case, a guitar stand, a strap, and various other related cleaning items. How were we rewarded? When it came time to check out, 2 sales guys rang it all up while talking a big game about how the gear is covered by a 5-year warranty. Not ONCE did they mention they had added on a PAID warranty program to his bill. After checking out, my friend noticed those 2 extra warranty charges (an extra $400!!!), and when I requested that they back out those charges and re-do the sale without it... they had the GALL to redo the sale but this time added less expensive 3-year warranty fees.At that point my friend was too tired to argue about it and simply acquiesced. Got the gear home and not only was he overcharged, the sales guys didn't even bother to get the (new) guitar's accessories from the back room (user guide, tremolo arm, etc) AND his guitar case didn't have any keys for its locking latches. This experience absolutely sours me on ever taking another friend there. I will encourage them to buy online instead.

I recently rented a pair of 1500w speakers from this GC at Pineville. I knocked 2 stars off due to my experience this time. I am a repeat customer (have rented speakers last year and bought a guitar from here). The store is well stocked and there are many musical instruments on the floor that customers can interact with the get a feel for them before deciding to purchase. The issue was with customer service. For most part it was good. I interacted with 4 different customer support people and all were perfectly fine except for one which is why I knocked 2 stars off. Here is what happened during this visit--I rented the speakers for a function which was to take please in a huge indoor space which is the Indian Land Recreation center. The space is larger than this GC with ceiling hight nearly double that of GC.Both speakers looked a little dinged when I rented them. So I purchased insurance. We tested them in the store itself. Both were functional at normal talking volume. But once we setup the speakers in the huge indoor space and raised the volume to a reasonable level one of the two speakers performed very poorly and started producing thumping noise. So we reduced its gain to a lower decibel level. It was around just 60% of the other speaker. Still I could tell that the sound lacked crispness. So after the function when I returned the speakers to GC. I informed them that one specific speaker performed very poorly & that they should use the insurance I have purchased to replace it. So that they don't put it back into circulation again and some other people who rent it would have a bad experience. Then I requested for a partial refund of the rental value of one speaker. Instead of telling me what is the specific verbiage of the store policy the manager Mr. Dean was giving me a very purely subjective explanation of how in middle of my function I should have called the GC to tell them how the speaker was not performing well! So I asked if the store policy specifically says that if I called earlier like he said he would give a discount of any amount? To which he came up with more off tangent explanation about why insurance is important. So I explained to him that I did buy the insurance but the issue was with the rent I paid for a proper functioning speaker which I did not get (only one speaker functioned well). Again his implication was that we just used perfect speakers but now after the fact want to trick them into giving a refund.I challenged him to test the speakers then and there and raise the volume to the same level in both speakers and then he could tell how one of the speakers failed. He had no answer except that all speakers perform to less than their rated wattage and that's the natural order of things. I am no Audiophile but even I know that fact (since I was not born just yesterday). But there is an expectation of reasonable performance from any equipment that we rent. But that was not there in this case. So in the end they basically said that when you rent Speakers from them it can be a hit or miss and we have to be prepared for that risk. During our function many singers complained about the poor output and lacking the impact they expected. It was disappointing to the singers and the audience. So I have decided to purchase new set of speakers for the next year but definitely not from this GC because then I will be rewarding them for not standing behind their product quality and not showing a willingness to provide a fair customer support!

The store is well organized. No one greeted us upon entry however staff did come around and offer assistance. They were knowledgeable about what we asked about. I enjoyed tapping on the drums certainly not playing, Lol. I enjoyed listening to the people there who could play the guitars.

Waiting nearly half an hour on a slow afternoon when there were MAYBE 3 other customers in the whole place before I even had someone ask if I wanted something (not even a hi, how are you, nothing, just “did you want something”) didn’t make me feel terribly welcome, but considering that there was only one left handed guitar in the whole store, it’s not like I could have walked out with anything today anyway. I was so disappointed—I’m still new to playing and was hoping to try new things and maybe upgrade to something nicer than the cheap Amazon guitar I currently play, but I felt like I was intruding on someone else’s space. They very obviously didn’t want me there.

I have visited this location a number of times in the past 3 years for various needs such as renting Audio equipment for community functions and trying out and purchasing some musical instruments and all my experiences have been great and customer service has improved a lot since the peak of the pandemic!I commend the team at GC for giving such a great customer service!
