Rented two trucks from this location recently and had a great experience. If I need to rent a U-Haul again I'll be going here

I literally do not think I've met a more miserable front desk person in my entire life. It was comical that he looked and acted so miserable like he didn't want to be there that it threw me for a loop and I couldn't remember why I was there. I genuinely feel bad that he has to live the life he does because he HATES life. Not the person I would put my customer facing area. Highly recommend you avoid this location as they hate their jobs and it SHOWS!!!

I don't usually have a problem with this location, but this time was different. It's my fault for not double checking over THEIR WORK, but I got charged $173 for only going 20miles ( they claimed I drove 70m ) and returning it at a quarter of a tank ( they claim it was just slightly under half a tank ) but I can promise on the good Lord himself what they claimed is false. I asked the guy nicely if there was anything I needed to do after returning the truck and he stated quote "Nah, don't worry about it; I'll take care of it" but let me assure everyone reading this now. Worry about it. They will take care of "it" , but not YOU. Make sure to take pictures of gas and mileage because they'll scam you if you don't and claim "this is what you did" . 70miles would be driving from their location to COLUMBIA. I only had the truck for a couple of hours. I literally drove from their location to a house on South Tryon and 160 ( only 6.5m away ) to a Ballantyne location ( 8.2m away ) back to their location ( 3.4m away ) and claimed I drove 70m and charged me for the gas and mileage. I'm honestly heated about their nonchalant ability to lie and scam someone out of their own pockets.

I didn't hate it, but it wasn't the best moving truck I've rented. I couldn't drive faster than 75mph through the neighborhoods with my truck. It didn't handle speed bumps well either. Might've popped a tire or two. They really should upgrade their trucks. But shout out to Henry for being so understanding through the whole experience. My next move is planned to January and I'm headed to Iceland. Can't wait to work with you guys again. Thanks for the mediocrity.

It seems as if this Uhaul goes through a tremendous turnover and while I have had Great customer service back in the day, I have also had horrible customer service but WAIT!!!!!!! It's back to great again!!!!! So not sure how long this current GM (Zell) has been there but he is AWESOME! He was very pleasant to other customers while I was there. He was also very accommodating and made funny jokes while answering the phone when other U-haul locations called in. He was very patient, didn't seem like it was a bother to go get the vehicle, and was very receptive when I spoke with him about my rental. Keep him people if you want your reviews to go back to being Great! I always appreciate Great customer Service and look to that as my first indication of a business's performance. Thanks, Zell for showing customers that good customer service still can exist and that listening to a customer, right or wrong, makes an impression. I watched him listen to another customer and was proud to see him represent kindness in this day and age.

I reserved a van and dolly but was rudely informed that they didn't have any dollies available when I arrived. The staff is abrasive, dismissive and overall rude including using foul language around customers.

Really bad customer services The man was very rude. I rather go the extra miles to the independence location, better service.

Absolute clowns. Tried to scam me out of $30 by claiming I under fueled the returned truck. Luckily, I had a video proving that I returned the truck with more fuel than when I received and so the weasels were forced to return my money back. However, when they returned my money, they "mistakenly" shorted me two dollars. This location and Uhaul as a company are absolute abortions. Do business with anybody else but them.

Well everything was great until they charged me for a dolly and furniture pads that I did not order. The dolly and furniture pads were not even on the cargo van they just charged them. I had to call customer service for someone to help me return this money to my card. The company has no fault at this, the employee who charged this extra stuff does.

I should be given credit back for the additional miles AND for having the truck given to me on empty at the time of pick up. I had to wait over an hour and a half in line to pick up the truck I had reserved and had already checked in myself online. Then there were no blankets after I had reserved them (I had to drive extra miles to family and friends homes to find blankets... had I known prior to pickup there were no blankets then I would have already had them). That Uhaul location caused me about a 3 hour delay in my move, with the wait time AND having to locate blankets.ALSO: at time of pickup, I discovered after I was about a mile down the road from the pickup location, the truck gas tank was on empty, however I was being required to return the truck on half full?? That's just not right. Due to the lengthy "wait" I already had at the uhaul, I didn't turn around to go back for uhaul to put gas in it. I put gas in it myself. Uhaul owes me a half tank of gas (I have a picture of the starting mileage and the tank showing "empty"), and I returned the truck on half a tank of gas as was required in the contract. Also: The truck rental was supposed to be for two days, as I was moving from Charlotte to Columbia SC, but they only had me down for 1 day. Normally when I have two days, I'm allowed 119 miles, but for some reason this time only 99 miles was allowed. Again, that's just not right. Uhaul dropped the ball this time... really bad.Lastly: The pickup location was very unorganized. They had plenty of staff there (at least 5 or 6 staff members) but at any given time there was only one person helping the long line of waiting customers. I have used Uhaul at least 8 or 9 times over the past 6 months, all with good experience except this time. This pick up location is THE WORST!! Never again at that location!

This location should be shut down!!!! I rented a 20 ft truck and car tow. First I try to load my 2020 Jeep wrangler with all standard features. The tire straps would not fit over the tire... not even close. I drive back to the uhaul location because trying to get someone on the phone is impossible and she measures the straps of other tow units. They are all the same. If you are going to say yes it can haul a Jeep Wrangler then it should fit. Fortunately a police officer was able to help. He said let the air out of both front tires. This was far from ideal but I had no other option. Second MAJOR problem.. About two hours in to the 18 hour drive I had to Texas the truck began to have a very bad shake. After about 4 hours it was almost to a point where it was uncontrollable. I pulled over and spent an hour on the phone trying to get the issue fixed. I was able to get to a mechanic and was told BOTH front tires were completely warped. The drivers side so bad that at any moment I could have had a blow out!! Having a blow out doing 55 mph pulling a jeep would have more than likely caused an accident that I would have been killed!! Third problem.. On the second day after two hours of delay dealing with the truck and being waaaayyyy behind schedule the car tow blew out two tires!!This was the worst experience I have ever had with a move and I have moved a lot!! The simple fact that this location blatantly let equipment leave the facility in that kind of shape that could have caused a serious accident and possibly killed myself and my dog is completely unacceptable!! I have made several phone calls to the location and Uhaul.. I received one phone call from an Employee and an email from the Manager at the location named Chuckie Barner saying he was SORRY for the issues!! SORRY.... sorry does not cut it!! You Chuckie put my life and many others lives in danger by letting that faulty equipment even leave your store. Please don't ever rent from this location or you basically are putting your life at danger!!

Called to make a reservation and it took at least 15 minutes to get it done. Checked in online and gave all pertinent info so I could pick up the truck the next day in an efficient manner. Got there just before my requested time and had to wait for over an hour in line before they get the keys to me. Complete joke of an operation to expect anyone to wait that long. Clearly you need to have more people working the counter, beyond ridiculous. Stay away if your time is valuable and don't bother registering online as it is of no use.

Horrible employees. Rude and disrespectful. You had better check yourself if the accessories you pay extra for are actually in the truck(moving dollies, etc). Employees are argumentative and pay no attention to detail. Let me take a step back and say that I am not an overly critical person, and it is not in my nature to leave negative reviews. However, I have rented trucks twice at this U-Haul location, and both times I had awful experiences with the employees. I have rented many trucks from other U-Haul locations, without any trouble, but this location has employees who deliberately treat customers with disrespect. The equipment was fine, availability of trucks has been great, but the employees are terrible. Will not rent here a third time.

Extremely poor service. I picked up a Uhaul and car trailer to drive 2000 miles, 7/10/20, in Pineyville,NC. I was given a old car trailer and an old truck. There was no due diligence to ensure lights worked or these two equipments could travel that distance. I left at 6:30 am on 7/11/20, to start a 2 day trip. Within 200 miles, the car trailer bracket was broke. I had to stop in Jefferson,Georgia, and replace the car trailer that had a vehicle on it. ( the personnel at that UHaul facility were wonderful). Then the connector on the truck to the trailer did not work. Delay of 4 hours. Back on the road and within 2 hours, air conditioner engine broke. I drove in heat and was extremely uncomfortable to reach Moss Point, Mississippi. I stopped overnight and in the early AM contacted UHaul. A late fee was incurred waiting for the service man. He found that the air conditioner engine was broke and needed to be replaced with the needed supply not available until the next morning. I had to stay overnight in a hotel and the next morning drive without air conditioning to the repair shop. ( Uhaul service personnel wonderful in Biloxi, MS) Another delay of 32 hours, with a late start to drive, on a scheduled 48 hour drive. In Houston, TX, the air conditioner engine that had just been replaced that AM, began stopping and starting for the duration of the trip. In July, the heat was almost intolerable. There is still a problem happening in the truck. Engine light is on. I had to drive late into the night to reach my destination on early Tuesday AM. The trip I had scheduled ( and have done several times), consisted of 2 days of day light driving. A 2 day drive extended into 4 days, with uncomfortable, delays and mandated night driving. I was expected to be home by Sunday, 7/12/20, but due to these repair delays from old equipment, I arrived instead in early AM 7/14/2020. I am not a young woman anymore, so this heat, delays, problems were very difficult for me.Rescheduling of movers, as I had 2 storage rooms to load and unload, which had to be changed and rescheduled.Unexpected expenses for food, hotels, cleaning clothes, as I was not prepared for such delays for me and my dachshund.Unexpected traveling without air conditioningDelay and usage of my valuable timeThere was NO Reason for the UHaul location in Pineville, NC, to give me OLD equipment that was not able to drive across the country, had not even had minimal maintenance updated on it, and no due diligence to ensure lights were working. I should have been given newer, functioning equipment that had a much better opportunity to drive across the county. The truck they gave me had been in a previous wreck with the bottom of the truck torn and hanging off the truck. A sticker was on it, stating it had been previously claimed by insurance.Honestly, the Uhaul in Pineville, NC, just wanted to have someone rid them of this truck and the old car trailer. This rental had to do more with them getting rid of old equipment that giving me the proper equipment I had paid for and usually get from UHaul. My life was put in harm's way by UHaul renting me a defective car trailer and a truck that was not up to date on its maintenance. Not having an air conditioner in July on the Gulf Coast was not healthy for a 63 year old.
