Carolina Tiger Rescue is a nonprofit wildlife sanctuary in Pittsboro, North Carolina, that rescues and provides a home for tigers, lions, cougars, and other wild cats. The sanctuary also provides enrichment for the animals to stimulate their senses. New animals are always being rescued, including some from places like the Tiger King ranch. There is also a New Guinea Singing Dog and other animals like beautiful foxes and red wolves. Tours are two hours long and involve a lot of walking on unpaved ground, so wearing pants and tennis shoes is advised. Tours often sell out weeks ahead, so booking in advance online is required. The sanctuary has a new educational building and an expanded parking lot. Before leaving, visitors should not skip the souvenir gift shop, which features unique items like art painted by a tiger. It is a hidden gem that animal lovers will not regret visiting.
My family had a wonderful experience. The tour was well done and educational. I left with a deeper appreciation and sense of awareness for these precious animals. The work they do here is awesome.
