Even though dauntless transmissions couldn't assist me with my car, there service and the way he spoke to me was very kind and helpful. If I ever have to have transmission work again, he'd be the one I'd go to!

Fantastic folks! So good that when going to pick up our repaired car, a customer coming out stopped us to let us know we were in good hands. That kind of thing just doesnt happen if you're not doing something right. Super pleased and will seek them again when needed without hesitation.

When it came time for my first transmission fluid change, I wanted a transmission shop. I researched shops in the Triangle and found Dauntless. I called and spoke to *** who listened to my concerns and did a free test drive with me driving. He told me to drive home which was only about 2 or 3 miles from the shop. He drove it back to the shop and put it on the lift. He changed my filter and fluid and gave me a warranty on his work.Fast forward a couple of years. My car had recently had a tune-up and was cutting off after I put gas in it. *** did some investigating and found that my throttle plate was extremely dirty. He said that cleaning the plate was all that he could offer. I gave the go-ahead and my car quit cutting off after fresh gas was put in.Lastly, this past week my car started making a grinding noise and sounded like "rocks in a can". *** helped me out with this one. We did the usual test drive and I left my vehicle with him. He called me by noon the same day as promised with an estimate. *** and I talked quite extensively about what needed to be done. He let me have all the time I needed to make a decision on a rebuild of my transmission. I gave him a deposit for parts and now am waiting for them to come in. *** has been totally transparent, honest, and upfront with me. He even told me the shop would be closed for Christmas week. I don't mind waiting as the diagnosis was speedy and his guys with my go-ahead know what needs to be done. Parts can take a while to come in so I have no problem with the shop being closed while the parts are on their way. I drive a well-taken care of Kia **** with ~250k miles with the original transmission and engine. In short, I trust the team at Dauntless Transmissions. Thank you for taking care of me.

The transmission diagnostics fee was $480. My fault that I was shocked by it. Live and learn. Make sure you’re clear about the charges before you ask them to look at your car.

Gil is a gem. Not many like him left. He fit me in when I discovered a dead car at RDU. Got the car off the tow truck and got me on my way.

Never got to use this place to fix my problem. All I needed was a new catalytic converter, charged me for unneeded and unwanted diagnostics. Over priced quotes. Went somewhere else and got the work done for a lot less and no hassles.

It's a shell of its former self. The people are still nice. However, it looks like past covid19, the place has never recovered. Could there be some supply problems still? ?

Our primary commuter car was totalled (not our fault) and so, we ended up buying a 11 year old Mazda 3. Few months after, we noticed AT and Check Engine Light. Our regular mechanic recommended Dauntless and so, Gil looked into our problem and fixed it!. Within 2 weeks after this, again we noticed AT and check Engine Light but then, the codes were different.Gil (has lots of patience!, thank you for this!) explained the problem is with the onBoard computer not working as expected. We were not convinced (transmission related, happening two weeks after it was repaired) but then, Gil patiently explained what was going on which gave us the assurance! We were limping along while waiting for the new car that we placed orders.Gil also explained the failed part is in short supply and that Mazda dealership has quoted 6 months waiting time for this part. Gil suggested our options are use it as is or look for a replacement in the junk yard. We decided to use the car as is. Symptoms at this point were:Hard shift into Drive and/or ReverseVehicle stays in 3rd gear onlyCheck Engine light and AT lights are onCouple of months later, the AT problem got worse and this time, we were forced to go back to Gil and ask him "can we get a used part to replace the failed one". Gil took the parts out, to take out the failed part that needed to be replaced which was of TREMENDOUS HELP! Knowing how the part looked helped us to locate what to look for. Once we found it and replaced, our car has been running fine for more than a month.Other than charging us (fair, the charges were) for the first time, Gil did not charge 1c for the subsequent time we sought help. Gil's patience to explain the problem and restore the confidence about the car's safety cannot be assigned a $ value. We can't thank Gil and Dauntless Transmission enough for being thorough professional and helping us like a true expert would. Anyone reading the review, feel free to ask me any questions and I will do my best to answer them.Thank you Gil! Thank you Dauntless Transmission!Services: Transmission

Dauntless Transmissions is the place to go to if you need your transmission rebuilt. I drive for Uber and blow transmissions like it is nobody's business. Gil and his crew of professionals did a total and complete overhaul on my VW Jetta, along with a few extra repairs that I requested. Since the repair, I put somewhere around 2,300 miles on it and it shifts like a brand new vehicle. The people running Dauntless are top notch and trustworthy. Excellent experience. Thankful to be ripping the streets up again!Services: Transmission

Max has taken great care of me over the last few years. I first needed a transmission fluid change. I drove to his shop and then he drove me back home in my vehicle so he could get a feel for any problems. The work was done in a day and he brought my vehicle back to me at my home! He called me with an estimate after they had gotten the vehicle back to the shop and communicated with me throughout the day. It is rare to find someone like this these days.I was so impressed with my first visit that when I started having engine problems, I took my car back to him. He was able to figure out the problem, take care of it, and it didn't cost me an arm and a leg.It is time for another transmission fluid change so I already know who will do it. I tried, but they didn't seem interested in working on my vehicle. After making an appointment, I left my car for the whole day. I called near the end of the day, and they said they were too busy to work on it, and suggested leaving my car overnight. My only car.So I told them I would pick it up. They took a "quick look" at it, and gave me a and a diagnosis, which turned out to be completely wrong. They promised to call me with an estimate the following morning, which never happened.I was skeptical of the diagnosis from the getgo-- they didn't drive my car enough to even reproduce the issue. I won't be returning.Pros: Didn't break anything, didn't charge me anything.

Well...never made it in actually. I've called 3 different times for an estimate and haven't received a call back once. Just needed an estimate to put a transmission in my Acura.
1st call...(the owner I assume) took down all the appropriate information needed and said he would give a call back. This was a Friday so I assumed it would be the following Monday.
2nd call...was the following Friday. He was short with me and asked me to call back the beginning of the following week because he was busy...ok cool.
3rd call... was last Wednesday or Thursday maybe. He read back my info and said I'll call you as soon as I have something. Today is Tuesday and no word from him.
I was recommended to call him from W.A.S.P. which is a Honda/Acura specialty repair shop that I've had great experiences with.
Truthfully...why would I spend money somewhere or with someone who can't follow through on something as simple as an estimate? ?? I guess I'll find a business who wants my money.
