I went to Oak City today and they had some chicken, mashed potatoes and green beans from this place but there were some parts of the chicken that wasn't done all the way. I just threw the rest of the food away just ridiculous.Whoever cooked it didn't do a good job at all. This is why they get one star from me. They need to fire whoever cooked it because they can't cook.

Rocky Top catered our December 2023 wedding at The Meadows and overall had a great experience! They fit our budget and were very organized and flexible in making the tasting, planning, and day-of process easy and smooth. We loved their uniquely NC options like barbecue, Cheerwine chicken, mac & cheese, and pimento cheese arancini, which felt true to the food we grew up on and fun to provide for guests from out of town. One guest said it was "the best wedding mac of all time." We thought the food was solid and well executed for feeding 100+ guests with really lovely staff and service. One thing I would recommend for buffet-style dining is requesting to utilize both sides of the buffet if your space allows so that your guests get their food efficiently. Definitely recommend them for weddings and other large events for a reliable caterer with great options, food, and service!

Normally I wouldn’t add a review as my wife already posted about the issues with Rocky Top during our wedding however to make sure there is a fair and accurate portrayal based on their response I feel it is important to do so.First, a large amount of food was dropped, made a huge mess, disturbed the cocktail hour, and was just a big distraction. And to blame it on “it got really chilly outside” is first and foremost unprofessional as if this company has never done an event outside before, and secondly we (the bride and groom) were not told about this happening until the following day as we were having photos taken. We were only told later by our families about the biscuit bar, and it wasn’t until later that week that our friends mentioned the food quality. It’s simply a lie that the plates came back clean as my plate I barely touched besides the potatoes (which were great) but the chicken and short rib were dry and sauceless. Amazing how they can mass produce 300+ but our 30 guests for our micro wedding clearly weren’t a priority for this company who clearly prioritizes large clients over smaller ones.In no way was any of this retaliatory but attempting to inform potential clients that unless you’re doing a large event with Rocky Top, you should look elsewhere for your smaller events. Unfortunately for us we were stuck with a closed vendor list and while Rocky Top managed to wow us during our tasting they fell way short during actual execution. And Rocky Top never reached out to apologize for the incident with the biscuit bar leaving us to reach out to bring it up. Had we not emailed the following day, it’s doubtful any accountability would have been taken.Rocky Top can stick to their overpriced Jingle Ball and NYE events where they can serve a few thousand people mediocre food for a few hundred bucks a head and still be a staple of the Triangle catering community. For everything else look elsewhere.

I had a disappointing experience with Rockytop Catering on my wedding day, December 14, 2023. The biscuits served during cocktail hour were dropped and wasted, creating an embarrassing scene. The chicken and beef served during dinner were rubbery, cold, and inedible. When we tried to address the issue, they claimed to have never made bad food in 19 years and offered no resolution. Potential customers should be aware that the food at the tasting may not reflect what will be served at their event. In response to Rockytops's comment: Rocky Top Catering it sounds like you were extremely busy at the time of our event (around holidays) and weren't able to provide the normal level of service due to being overwhelmed. If you were to busy and had to mass produce our food without quality checks, just say that. No one cleaned their plate or requested seconds but yes everyone was polite to your staff because they're nice people. Our cocktail hour was only an hour and the biscuit bar was down for the majority of the time. Yes it was retaliatory as Rockytop provided subpar food and service at the most important event of our lives and are denying it. The food you served was not the same as it was at the tasting. You are defending your bad service and food. I am simply warning other couples who believe the tastings match the actual food served.

We attended the 2023/24 Rocky Top Catering New Year’s Eve Gala at the Raleigh Museum of Natural Sciences and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. The food was delicious, the drinks were fun and abundant and the DJs and overall atmosphere were great! This was our first year attending the event and we are already planning on returning next year. The staff was gracious and did everything they could to ensure everyone had a great time! Yes, some of the lines for food were a bit long but that is to be expected with this type of event and they moved surprisingly quickly. We never had to wait at the bar for a drink. Oh, and the hot dogs at midnight were awesome. We highly recommend the event and Rocky Top Catering! ??????

We attended the New Year’s Eve gala put on by Rocky Mount catering. At $150+ per ticket it was a huge disappointment. Food finished or with minimal options by 10:15pm. The desserts that were available were just Overall It felt low budget, mediocre at best event . I do not recommend.

Just FANTASTIC and to quote the business that I gifted this catered meal, "it was Top Notch!"Not living in Raleigh I wanted to send a gift to a particular business for all they do for my business. I called Rocky Top and discussed my needs. They were so helpful, accommodating, offered suggestions, and helped me give a perfect gift for Christmas. They delivered on time and set everything up! I couldn't be more impressed! THANK YOU!

Rocky Top catered the Jingle Ball for 2023, and I'm just here to talk about the shrimp and grits/short ribs. Good Lord, worth the price of admission alone, these two. If you're an atheist, you'll find religion by the time these bowls are empty. No idea how they catered for hundreds of people and kept it all perfectly warm and maintained the texture and flavors, but they did it.Look at that goodness, I didn't get a picture of the shrimp and grits, but I'm not even remotely ashamed to say that we had a half dozen bowls, each!

Their food is amazing. Since we tried their short ribs, we couldn’t wait till our wedding day to have them again. Also, we went to an open house and had some of their food which is when we decided to use them. I believe we ate about five of their chocolate mousse cups because they were so delicious. They were very helpful during the tasting and were able to tweak some of the menu items to make it more specific to our tastes. Also, Rocky top team was lovely to work with. They were very responsive and answer any questions that we had. Only downside, we were bummed we didn’t have as much left over food for us. Would highly recommend

Thank you for the wonderful service and food for our daughters wedding. What make a great company to me is when there is a glitch they completely work to make it right. We know things don't always go exactly as planned. They were awesome and the food was amazing. Their wait staff and bartenders were alway on top of everything. Thanks again for making her day special. I would highly recommend them to anyone for any occasion.

We booked with Rocky top back in April for out Oct wedding. From the time we booked to the time of the wedding, they switched our assigned sales person 3 times. ( our main one had a family emergency, which it totally understandable) but the other ones didn't. This meant we had to explain everything we wanted 3x. Communication was HORRIBLE! They didn't answer emails or calls for about 3 weeks before the wedding. Each sales person told us we needed different things for set up, so the week before the wedding we were scrambling trying to get things ordered on amazon. We had no idea what time they were even going to arrive the day of the wedding because no-one would answer. Then they randomly show up about two hours before the ceremony and had a completely wrong timeline than discussed before. Lucky the two that arrived were AMAZZINGGG. If it wasn't for Latoya Thomas and Natalie Bailes, the wedding would have been a disaster. They catered to my actual written schedule and were SO helpful. The food was okay, except the queso trio app, which looked like it was just hot oil and water and all guest said it looked gross. Organization was horrible. Would def not recommend.

In late September, Rocky Top Catering, a locally owned and well-known catering company in the Triangle, announced that Table & Twine, a chef-prepared meal delivery service, is now part of the company.I recently went to a media preview of their Thanksgiving meal offering and everything was so delicious! You get everything already prepared and seasoned and brined and packaged that all you have to do is heat and serve for the sides and in just two hrs, the turkey that comes with the package will be done.We learned that Table & Twine by Rocky Top Catering offers a variety of delicious meal options, including ready-to-eat entrees, finish & serve meals, family-style meals, and entertainment packages. The chefs preparing these meals only use whole foods, and meals arrive fresh (not frozen). Many dishes are ready to eat and others require simple heating. These restaurant-quality meals are available for home delivery in the Triangle and curbside pick up at Rocky Top Catering in Raleigh. If you want the convenience of spending more time with family and less time in the kitchen this holiday season, keep Table & Twine by Rocky Top Catering in mind for holiday meals. Offerings of Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner packages, brunch packages, appetizers, and desserts will be available to make your holidays more enjoyable and less stressful.I do wish their was the option to customize, mix or match , or just buy some of the sides and pies a la carte. To learn more about Table & Twine by Rocky Top Catering or to place a meal delivery, I recommend visiting their website: tableandtwine.com

We chose Rocky Top Catering to cater our wedding on 10/22/23 at the Merrimon-Wynne House and we could not be happier that we did!We worked closely with Vicki throughout the whole process, and she was INCREDIBLE (literal angel). During our initial phone call, we had a lot of questions about the catering menu and selection process, and Vicki was very patient with answering them all. Additionally, we didn't know if we wanted to go with a plated or a buffet style meal, so she took the time to write up a proposal for both options to help make our decision a little easier.Once we selected our food options, Vicki was able to schedule a tasting for us to make sure that everything on the menu was to our liking, and let me tell you... my now husband and I talked about that tasting for DAYS it was that good. We were blown away with how flavorful and well-balanced every dish was. The portions were great, and they even sent us home with leftovers, which was totally unexpected. We left that tasting beyond happy that we chose RTC as our caterer, but also super sad that we had to wait so long until we could eat their food again at our wedding! On the day of our wedding, the service that RTC provided was exceptional. Our day-of point person Latoya made sure to introduce herself as soon as she got there, and ensured us that she was here to help with anything we needed throughout the day. Although a lot of people warned us that the bride and groom barely have time to eat, the RTC team made sure that my husband and I did not go hungry. For the passed hors d'oeuvres, they made us a plate full of all 4 options so we didn't miss anything during cocktail hour. For dinner, we decided to go with a buffet style, but the RTC team put together a plate for my husband and I so that we didn't have to leave our table. For our late night bite, someone from the RTC team made sure to hand deliver us sliders (10/10 recommend) even though we were non-stop dancing on the dance floor. We both agreed that everything we ate that day was just as good, if not better than we remembered from our tasting! As for our guests, they also could not stop raving about how amazing the food was. Both of our families LOVE to eat, and they all agreed that everything we had on our menu exceeded their expectations. The food was hot, well-prepared, and portions were large enough to keep everyone full throughout the entire night. They especially couldn't stop talking about the slow braised beef short ribs - they literally fell apart in your mouth and people couldn't stop going back for more. At the end of the night, we were sent home with leftovers once again, which was exactly what we needed the day after lots of fun and celebrations.Overall, I cannot recommend Rocky Top Catering enough to anyone looking for a caterer for their big day. They will go above and beyond for you, and make sure that everyone (even the bride and groom) will leave full and happy by the end of it all. If you want your wedding day to be remembered for it's top tier food and service, then I highly encourage you to book with RTC. Thank you once again to Vicki, Latoya, and the rest of the RTC team for making our wedding day the BEST DAY EVER!!

I got married at the Natural Science Museum and Rocky Top did a great job making sure my reception was set up, keeping in touch, answering all of my questions, thinking of all the little details, and the food of course was fantastic. Haylie was the best to work with. Definitely recommend them!
