The African American lady with the glasses ( older one) that’s at the front office is very rude and does not help . I’m not sure if she is burnt out or if she just doesn’t want to work there anymore . You ask her for help or for directions and she just simply says she will get back to you and never does or just tells you to leave ! I will tell everyone about her rude behavior . I had a family come in because they needed shelter and she would not open the door for her even though she directly looked at them and said give me a minute .. after an hour of waiting I send them to another shelter ! I will not recommend this to anyone that really needs help . Get a new receptionist

This year has been tough for my son and I. We were homeless for several months, until the Salvation Army Shelter took us in. They provided us with safe shelter and encouraged us to keep pushing forward. When I was approved for an apartment they stepped in to help again, providing the security deposit, first and second months rent. We have our own apartment now, just in time for Christmas. We will forever be grateful for the support of the staff at the Capital Blvd Salvation Army Shelter!!! My deepest thanks to all the AMAZING staff at the Capital Blvd Salvation Army Shelter!! ~Jenny ?

In support of an earlier review"They don't help people. They don't care."It took 2 days to make an appointment. My phone was off DUE TO BILLS so I had a 3rd party try to schedule for food assistance.Monday—there wasn't any justification specifically as to why I couldn't make a thursday appointment on a Monday. I left a VM (6:50 am). The assistant stated later that she still had not made the appointment because she called us back but nobody picked up then randomly pressed us to call back Tuesday which didn't make sense because at that point, we had her on the phone (still Monday). Myself & this third party CONFIRMED there was no callback. THEN This same assistant mentioned having called several others who also had not called her back. Quite discerning for a folk majority to not reply back or the SA doesn't/refuses to admit likely glitchy functionsThe next day (Tuesday)—the 3rd party w. the phone wasn't available so I had to walk in to make an appointment. I wanted to simply clarify points to the manager lady who didn't make the circumstances better whatsoever other than “the front desk assistant was just being nice doing callbacks, but doesnt have to" and "so you didn't have a phone?” In short, No apology!! No help!!! If the impoverished are unable In ANY capacity to schedule assistance, then just no assistance. The appointment was made with such haste so KEEP YOUR FOOD.You reap what you sow. Before doing away with overall religion, I too served along in various christian ministries(kids, food, clothes, financial) for up to 10 years. The many times I've visited here outside & in, God is not there.

They have no help for men or younger men they feel like we don't have problems or we don't go down they only take families with younger children I guess since we're men we have to fit for ourselves and stand strong cuz there's no help for us.

We absolutely enjoy donating to the Salvation Army. Unlike any other of the charities that you are well familiar with the name, the Salvation Army contributes almost 100% of any donation given directly to one's seeking help. I 100% support the Salvation Army and always will. I will never give my money to other Charities such as Goodwill the United Way the March of Dimes who take a vast majority of any cash donations given to them for their executives. Salvation Army is a true charity organization and will always get my support both monetarily and materially.

Pitiful excuse for a soup kitchen. With endless resources the salvation army should be able to provide more than a half slice of stale bread and a spoonful of a mixture of several days of leftovers that cannot even be described by smell taste or sight. Looks like Chinese, tastes like plain spaghetti and smells like it may contain chili seasoning. The portions aren't enough for a petite woman with little appetite so I have no idea how an adult man is expected to survive on it. Even given the portion size they have trouble feeding a crowd of 30-50 and apparently have not managed to accommodate indoor dining Even in a thunderstorm the homeless are relegated to standing at the bus stop to eat their meager meal.If you're allergic to the many meals with a tiny shrimp or 3 and the pecans frequently paired as a desert you're SOL because they won't give you a meal you can eat soooo that's two people without food those nights since you have no choice but to toss it and the last in line doesn't get a meal. Milk was a special treat one night several months ago but nowadays water is a luxury provided scarcely in an Xtra small paper cup.Much like they provide in natural or national disasters or to the addicts they claim to rehabilitate.........the Salvation Army delivers nothing at the only soup kitchen in a major metropolitan area.
