I absolutely love this place. They have some of the best cookware. If you are thinking about buying a new set or at least building a set, this is the place to get your stuff from. They just have so many brands that are extremely well designed! You get your moneys worth!

Went on a Sunday to view an item I was contemplating for purchase. The size I wanted was in the back . It was a busy, pre-Christmas day. The associate was very nice, found my requested item . He gave great advice ( it would weigh 40 pounds once full of food-- which surprised me ). Overall , nice and helpful, experience.

We took a cooking class here - donuts! We took our teenage son; we’re trying to get him more involved in the kitchen, and thought this would be a fun, non threatening way to do it.Good: I did learn quite a bit about pastry making, despite doing it on my own a lot! The donuts we made were pretty good, though alllll the apple cider donuts from every team sank to the bottom and burned.Bad: the chef was very terse, bordering on rude for the first half of class. I was one more rude comment away from leaving, despite paying $200+ to take the class. She warmed up over time, but her demeanor was definitely not what I would think is ideal given the need to interact with the public. A lot of the prep work was already done as well; actually all the important stuff I was excited to learn. That was disappointing.I’ll take another class here, but I hope the experience is more positive.

Thoroughly enjoyed the French pastry class with Meribeth! It exceeded my expectations and I learned a lot. She discusses the science behind baking and provides great tips to bake at home. I already signed up for another class with her.

My husband and I went here for the Fall Feast cooking class. Our experience was definitely not what we have encountered with the multiple classes here in the past. We shared the class with only one other person but were cooking with them the entire time instead of them having a separate station which is what my husband was told when he booked the class. Our meal was to consist of 4 items. We prepared 3 of them the 4th the creme brulee wasn't "pre cooked" completely and was completely inedible. Im not sure why this menu item was even included in the class if we weren't doing anything to prepare it except for the sugar on top? There was no hand washing encouraged before we started which was startling. The instructions given were minimal for what we were doing and the chef teaching seemed to be having a hard time explaining to us exactly what needed to be done for each recipe. Spending $150 for two people to have a cooking class and the experience being what it was is not something I would recommend for anyone looking for classes in the Raleigh area.

If I could give this store zero stars, I would. Their staff has been incredibly rude every time I have visited this store for overpriced junk that you can buy on Amazon. Unfortunately, I was forced to visit this location more than once as I was given a gift card for Christmas. On one occasion they wouldn't let me return a spice rack that could not fit in my cabinet, even though I had the receipt and it was brand new. They had the very same item still on the shelf for sale. Wouldn't even offer a store credit. On another occasion I figured I'd use some of the gift card money to get my very favorite Shun knife sharpened. What an absolute mistake. I called to see if they would be able to sharpen while I waited. They said yes. Upon entering the store, I was told that "the woman who sharpens knives" was busy helping a customer and I was next. Much like other reviews I read, she offered the two gentleman a cappuccino as I stood there waiting. Most likely because they were spending money. Did I get offered one over my measly $5 knife sharpening? No. She sharpened my knife. Put it back in the box and I went on my way. Upon arriving home I could see that the gorgeous patina on my knife had been ruined. with unsightly scrapes all over the knife. My husband took the knife back over, expecting some sort of resolution. The woman who sharpened it said that they have a machine do the sharpening and it is for industrial knives (whatever that means). She said I should have known this and then seriously asked what we expected from a $5 knife sharpening. Wow. How was I expected to know ANY of this as THEY provide the service. I didn't see her put it in a machine. It doesn't matter how much the service costs. You expect some responsibility and accountability from a major store. Also, I was told she was "the only one who could do it". That made me believe it would be done by hand or with some kind of care... So, at 5:30pm on a Friday she offered to "call corporate" and see what could be done. My husband left the store and I am not kidding, within five minutes she called him and said that corporate could do nothing. Are you seriously telling me that after hours she got a response from corporate in five minutes. I highly doubt it. I doubt she even tried. They offered to refund my $5. That is all. I am so upset and disgusted by this horror show of a customer service experience. I will let the remaining gift card balance go to waste. I will NEVER shop at a Sur La Table again. EVER. Please do yourself a favor and avoid this store at all costs. And whatever you do- DO NOT get your knives sharpened (read: RUINED) here. Go to the fine gentleman at the Farmer's Market. Which is what I usually do.He is THE BEST.

I believe the sales staff who helped me was named Katherine - she offered very helpful advice on how to care for the equipment I was purchasing as well as know to remove the gooey residue left behind from the pricing sticker. Very informative

My husband and I have taken multiple classes here at Sur La Table and I just want to shout out Mary Beth for being absolutely INCREDIBLE. She has been our chef / instructor for classes twice and she is out of this world. She is knowledgeable, direct, funny, clear with instructions, and obviously very passionate. The food was incredible and I credit that to her wonderful instructions and guidance. She went out of her way to walk around and engage with participants and make sure we were enjoying ourselves and that the food was perfect. We will specifically look for classes that she teaches from now on. We could not be more impressed and we 10/10 recommend taking a cooking class at Sur La Table with Mary Beth.

Sometimes you need something to just be easy, like calling and asking about a wedding registry and picking up a gift. If you’re forced to go to the website and call out SKUs to learn if something is in stock, that’s not easy. And if the man on the phone is clearly not interested in making it easier, and has a bad attitude, that’s annoying. It was a straightforward request and situation for a store that surely deals with wedding gifts all the time…?? Who has the time to deal with rudeness and tedium? Especially when it’s easy to just look for another store on a registry and go there instead. Which I’d recommend.

Cooking classes here are very over priced for what is received. Most of the prep work is done before hand and there are dishes that they don’t even let you touch and it is fully made by the instructor. The class was only an hour even though 2-2 1/2 hours was written on the class descriptions and this time could have been used for learning more prep activities. All in all for $90 I pretty much just learned how to make risotto and was then served raw chicken and a salad with mold/fungus on it. Just watch a YouTube video instead and save yourself from food poisoning.

Incredibly disappointed. Do not recommend. First off we paid $180 for a macaroon cooking class. They’re made with inexpensive ingredients like butter, flour, sugar, and yet we couldn’t even make our own. We had to share a station with other people. And the “chef” doesn’t have her own station so she does a portion of our task and then let us finish. So we maybe got to do 30% of the steps. She had us browse the store for 45 mins waiting for them to dry and bake, we came bake to very undercooked macaroons and she blamed us and the humidity in the room. We would’ve been much better off buying the ingredients our self and watching a YouTube video at home. Also during our class she was cooking and prepping for another class. We were offered no drinks, no water, no snacks during a 3 hour cooking class that again cost $180! I have nothing positive to say about this place.

Not a big cooker but I wanted a better cooking pan and Jeffrey gave me excellent advice, and I’m excited to use the new pan I just bought. They have a wide selection at competitive prices and offer cooking lessons here.

Absolutely awesome focus on the customer. I was looking to upgrade my knives. A staff member asked if she could help, explained the difference between brands, uses and types of knives. She let me handle some so I could feel the difference to help me decide. While my wife and I were shopping we were offered a hot espresso or cappuccino. In two visits we had two knives sharpened and bought three, in addition to some placemats, towels and more.

I took the Beef Wellington class with Chef Caitlin. What a fantastic experience! The food was incredible. And she is engaging, knowledgeable, and funny. I will definitely be back to take another one of her classes with my husband.
