“As far as malls go, this one is in shocking condition. It’s genuinely sad to see a place that was once beautiful fall into such disrepair. You can still enter through the centre near Roses, but both the right and left side entrances are closed. If you look down the left hallway, it’s honestly alarming — the area is severely deteriorated, and the roof appears to be sagging. Only a thin strip of caution tape separates this unsafe section from the rest of the mall.
The right side is in better shape, but still extremely outdated. The entire mall feels frozen in time; since it was built in 1968, it seems like it has never received a proper update. You also can’t access Belk from inside the mall anymore. While there are a handful of shops still operating, the place overall is as empty and bare as it can be, and its condition is truly tragic.
If you enjoy exploring run-down or abandoned malls, you’ll probably find this place interesting — though some parts are so neglected that the roof looks barely supported. Reports suggest the left wing hasn’t been used since 2001, meaning nearly half the mall has been sitting untouched and deteriorating for almost 25 years.”
