As Hertz Gold member I was happy to see a "Cars Available" sign up after being diverted to a different airport by AA. Then the lady behind the counter advised no cars. When I suggested maybe taking down the sign, she advised, "They won't let us." I can't even come up with words for this level of ignorance.

If I could give negative stars for this review I would. I also don’t leave reviews, but I have not had this bad of customer service in a very long time so I thought I would to warn others.I flew in to Jacksonville to travel to Havelock to visit my daughter and her family for Christmas. I booked a car a few days after arriving as my daughter drove me around, but leaving on Christmas so I wanted to get a car so I didn’t have to bother them and make them drive an hour to take me back to the airport from Havelock. On the way to get the car rental, leaving Havelock to go to Jacksonville, I called a couple of times to confirm and no one picked up.When I got there, I was asked my DL and payment. When I handed her my DL and Visa debit, she looked at her monitor for a minute then she said they don’t take debit Visa cards. They require a credit card. I called my daughter to turn back around to get me when it was decided I could use hers and pay her for the rental, which truly is horrific as who has to have their daughter help them. Id be a driver rather than a primary. With is issue 1. Online it says debit is a form of payment, but then they refuse to help me. Plus I’ve rental tons of cars on business trips using debit Visa. They normally charge a bit more than refund the difference after.The bigger issue. Not even 5 minutes later while waiting for my daughter to come in, the lady at the counter says “sorry, your reservation has been cancelled because you’re late.” I’m standing right in front of her. Not late. I tried to call them on the way to the car rental and no one picked up and the place is not busy at all. No customers came in the whole time I was there. I’m super confused. I believe they didn’t have a car and made the situation as difficult as possible. And to top it off when they said sorry, it was in a tone, like sorry, but not sorry. These ladies should not be in customer service. This airport is really in the middle of nowhere. If my daughter had not been there, I would have been stuck. I’m still in shock about it.

The car that was rented broke down immediately after leaving the airport. There were no replacements. Four weeks later, Hertz has still not refunded the money. We have made multiple phone calls to OAJ & Hertz customer service.

This is the slowest rental car location…be prepared to wait 20-30 mins a person, which usually has a long line. The service is terrible as well.

Arrived late at night. Tim was manning the counter all by himself and took care of a long line of customers. Tim was friendly and helpful, even helping me get through a credit card issue. He was running low on vehicles, but held one for me while we worked through the credit card stuff. I really appreciated it. The only complaint I have is that this is the first time I have ever received an unclean rental vehicle. It was difficult to assess any prior damage because of how much dirt was still on the vehicle, and the inside floor mats were also very dirty.

Came here to pick up a rental I reserved. They gave me a key, I went out to the car, vent was broken. I brought the key back and asked for another car. Associate - Christina (who is also a Supervisor) was visibly upset, told me there weren't any other cars available so I told her I wouldn't be renting the car then. She charged me for a one day rental - $121.13 stating that because I took possession of the key, she was going to charge me. Although this is how they operate, they give you a key and you go to a stall out in the parking lot to get your car. Falsified the invoice - showing I rented on 7/20 and returned 7/21. I never took the car and had the keys for about a whole 10 minutes maybe. Horrible service and I would like for a manager to contact me please. This is a franchise location so Corporate Hertz/Dollar can't help me.

I rented a vehicle from an airport in WV, with the return site being the Albert Ellis Airport. Price included the one-way fee and everything. Got the car with less than 1/2 tank of gas. Dropped off the car in NC same day with a full tank of gas, and was told everything was fine. 2 weeks later, Hertz was trying to charge me an extra $215 for keeping the car an extra day, having it returned to Raleigh, and being almost empty!Hertz drove the car from Jacksonville to Raleigh and took the car in a day later and tried to charge me for their own incompetence.It took multiple hours on the phone with customer service for them to investigate their own BS. The "investigation" took 2 weeks and in the end they tried to refund me only half of what they owed me. I had to tell them that the refund needed to be $215 or I'm gonna keep calling them every day to fix their mistake.Now, 4 months later, they sent me a bill for tolls. $4 in tolls and a $10 "convenience fee". I will never use Hertz again. Horrible experience

Flew into Jacksonville lasted and my reservation had a error form SATO. Patrick was accommodating and helpful with getting the rental workout out and on my way. When I turned the car in, Krissy was a ROCKSTAR , we were able to adjust the reservation and everything worked out. She was extremely knowledgeable of military travel requirements and knew exactly what to do!!Also the car was clean and and in great condition. No issues with the vehicle.

No way of giving a 0 for the horrible experiences! Had to refuse the rental of a huge RAM since I am a 60 yo with arthritis. Was charged $90 because we pulled out of the spot! We only moved 50ft to the office to swap out the car.We were promised a call from KRISSY.We called 27 times from 9am - 9pmNo call back. When we returned to the airport to return a car we rented from Budget, went to speak to KRISSY at Hertz. Never apologized for not calling. When I asked for corporate phone number i told her I was reporting her rude, uncaring, and unprofessional behavior she replies its Krissy with a K.Lady! I'm looking at your name badge. Don't be sarcastic telling me it's with a K!

If I could give this rental company location a negative review I would. This past week I had a flight into Jacksonville and had a rental car reservation. When I got to the desk I overheard the employee letting the customer in front of me know that her system was down and she would not be able to complete a reservation for the customer. When I stepped forward and said I also had a reservation and gave her my name she let me know that they had a shuttleDriver going to pickup the vehicle for me but that it would be about 30 minutes before he arrived. I decided to try and go grab some food while I waited and asked to leave my phone number for her to call me when it was ready. I waited over an hour before I finally went downstairs and tried to inquire about timing since it was well past the original timeframe. After waiting quite a bit for her to leave her office she came out looking overwhelmed and let me know that she did not have any cars. At this point I was pretty frustrated as it was quite a long time after I should have had a vehicle. I understand that there is a rental car shortage and I am sure I was not the first person frustrated that I had a reservation and they did not have a vehicle to honor it but I feel like the situation was handled very poorly, and I do feel like I was lied to from the start. The employee should have been upfront with me from the start so I couldhave gone to another rental company who may have had a vehicle available, they also could have offered to pay for an Uber or dropped me off via a shuttle they supposedly had to get to my destination and brought me a rental car when it became available. I really am frustrated with how it was handled and hope that person and the team there get training on how to handle their customers with the shortage of vehicles instead of empty promises. No apology was ever given.

I was having a horrible day already when I walked into the airport to rent a car, but it was made even worse when Enterprise told me they had no car available. Even though I already booked on online! So I went to the Hertz counter where I was greeted by Krissy Boyko. I was in a major time crunch, and my day was already not going well and it was only noon, so I was not the best customer I could have been. But Krissy was working as hard as she could so I could leave as soon as I could, and get a rental. She had a positive attitude despite my somewhat bad one!!! She went above and beyond my expectations. Because of her hard work I was able to attend a family event I might have missed. Extremely grateful that she was there to help!!I also want to add Haley at the front desk was also extremely helpful and friendly when I dropped off my rental. Thank you HERTZ!
