Well, it just doesn't have a good atmosphere. With all the traffic from 95 and the folks in town, this Walmart should be top shelf, clean, well kept. Do the work, management. Keep the parking lot safe, daylight or dark, cleared up and inviting for folks that need things for themselves, their homes, and their families.

1st time here. I was very disappointed in the customer service from 2 employees in 2 different areas, that would have made this a 1-2 star review - until Valerie turned it all around. I’m not sure if she’s a manager or her title, but she was exceptional. She was courteous, sensible and a star amongst the other store employees I encountered! Overall, the store was easy to shop. The fresh foods area was clean and well stocked. But I would not plan to do business with this store again if it weren’t for Valerie.

I am unfamiliar with this particular Walmart, as I do not live in the area. I merely stopped there while I was passing through the area to pick up a couple of items for my trip. The great thing, most Walmarts are the same in the product they carry. and the layout of the store varies little, but all the aisles are not necessarily laid out the same as to what they have. Having gotten the lay-of-the-land, I quickly found the items I wanted through the guidance of the Walmart app. The app not only tells you what is in stock in the store but also provides you the aisle to look in to find the item. This sped my shopping and using the scan and go feature reduced my time further. Scanning the items as I put them in my cart, I can easily pay for them going through the self-checkout lines without having to rescan each item again. I easily found what I wanted, paid for them, and was on my way in only a few minutes.

Now usually my visits to the Roanoke Rapids Walmart are uneventful. If I need assistance I've had associates more interested in gossiping than helping me. Just pointing and saying look over there three or so isles away. Yesterday however, was the exception , I was waited on by a young man named Chris in the entertainment department. Now this young man provided excellent customer service. Reminded me how things used to be over 40 years ago. When people took pride in their work. Even though his department was brimming over with customers he still took the time to help an old lady out. He explained how I could print pictures off my thumb drive . He then proceeded check on everyone to see if he could be of assistance in between ringing up customers. Doing all this with a smile. He demonstrated his knowledge of various products while speaking with customers. He also came back by to check on me and help me further. He was not only courteous, kind and patient with this old woman but professional with everyone. It was a pleasure to wait in line and watch this young man work. With his work ethic he will go far in this life. Wish all employees were as industrious as this young man. He didn't just stand behind the counter and wait for someone to come to him. He went out and actively checked on customers all while keeping an eye for customers arriving at register. Hope he is working next time I go shopping.

This Walmart was very busy this weekend. The parking lot was full , so you had to park further out. The Walmart is pretty big with a big selection of items. There were some employees standing around talking as we were looking for help. However, we did get help from a lady to show us the clearance isle. I would recommend this Walmart
