I am not one to usually leave a review but that staff went above and beyond I couldn’t let it go unrecognized. My first time visiting this vet fell on a very sad day, I was having to put my parakeet down who suffered from testicular cancer. The staff was so caring and compassionate and made me feel so much better and comforted throughout the entire process. The dr was very gentle and patient with my parakeet who is not very good at vets and tends to freak out. Truly was one of the kindest vet offices I’ve been too! Even went as far as to send me a sympathy card where they did an imprint of his wing which meant the absolute world to me.

The staff and Dr at this office where fantastic to us when we were looking for a vet that day that could humanely euthanize our sick parakeet. We were worried that Kirby would flip out in his last moments when the Dr tried to take himself from his cage which would have been very hard to see for us but the Dr was so calm and wonderful with Kirby. The staff really helped lighten the mood as well which was appreciated. I highly recommend this practice and thank them for their care❤️

The card we received for our pup "Sassy" was absolutely the best. Thank you for sending us some love our way during our time of grief. We appreciate it very much.

Dr chandler is a complete coot. I took my dog in there (7 year old German Shepard) for a knot on his shoulder joint he dismissed it as nothing WITH OUT EVEN DOING X-RAYS! Took my baby to Roanoke island animal hospital and turned out it was a mass cell tumor! He could have killed my dog because he didn’t want to take the time to examine her. Terrible terrible vet. I will tell all my friends and family to avoid this place! He’s just looking for money and not practicing good medicine !

Dr chandler is inconsiderate and is rude to customers and when it comes to pain management of my animal after surgery he didn’t prescribe anything Sheldon’s animal hospital in Windsor is far superior! I will never return to tidewater animal hospital

My dog was bit by a copperhead. They not only saved my dog but did so quickly and efficiently and kept me informed throughout the entire process.

This is an awesome country Vet, who is very attentive to his patients. Would recommend Dr Chandler every day of the week. Only downside I have ever seen for a country vet is they don’t do walk in appointments. However they always have gotten me in in an emergency. The plus side to that is they’re always on time.

Dr. Chelsea Swain has been exceptional during a hard journey with our kitty. She was respectful, compassionate, and caring. She was very transparent and direct about my kitty’s health concern. However, she was respectful of our decisions. Dr. Swain answered all our questions and concerns. If you are thinking about choosing Tidewater Animal Hospital as your ball of fur’s provider, look no further. ❤️

The level of care given to both the patients and their parents is next level ? And the prices for services and meds are very good.

We first went to this vet in April when my Australian shepherd wasn't feeling well. It turned out he was in kidney failure. They told us different options but it was not looking like a good outcome and we chose to end his suffering. Everyone was very sympathetic and comforting. We had him cremated and he was in a lovely wooden box when we picked him up. We got a new puppy and took him for his remaining puppy shots and also got him neutered. They called to say he had done well with the surgery and then called a couple days later to ask how he was doing. I am very pleased with the service and care we have received.
