This store has gone the way of all the others. Prices are too high for donated stuff. You can babble all you want to about being a non profit and your programs blah blah blah. However, at the end of the day, if this continues all your stores will close and there will be no money for your little programs and to pay your high priced CEO. Nobody wants almost new prices on used stuff. Shop and donate to your local thrift stores that support programs in your town or community. Great stuff and much lower prices and maybe Goodwill will get a hint. I just go into Goodwill to laugh now and walk out empty handed. I can go to Ollie's and buy stuff cheaper. Never thought I'd see the day. What a shame.

Okay. So here’s the thing. Goodwill in general isn’t what it used to be. I enjoy thrifting, but the rise of goodwill’s auction website and knowing that they take people’s FREE DONATIONS and make maximum profits from them is just gross. All of the “good” stuff gets sent to auction, while the in-store shoppers suffer. Less quality items, less of a “thrill of the hunt,” and people who can’t afford otherwise suffer for it with cheap polyester fast fashion and worn out stuff on hangers and shelves.
I don’t know if Shelby’s goodwill participates, but I would assume so. I like the new building and space given to the customers, and on occasion I do find some great things. Some of the pricing is wild on certain things, while super cheap on others. There’s more and more “new” merchandise (Target overstock/returns?) with more of a “retail” price attached. I don’t know if goodwill purchases these pallets of Target stuff, or if it’s a Target Corp donation (I bet it’s donation, so that’s greedy too).
I do like their new lounge and cafe vibes with the books. I don’t mind that they don’t bag items at checkout now because I hate single use plastic bags.
I however do NOT like their ask for us as customers to “round up” to support job training, when their entire mission is supposed to be that in the first place but IT ISNT. Their labor practices are questionable across the board. Why ask us customers to round up when our purchase is supposed to support job training in the first place? This is a “for profit” corporation. Instead of asking us normies to round up so Goodwill can donate that and claim it on their taxes, their CEO should and absolutely COULD donate instead. Ridiculous. And when we “round up,” we can’t take that donation off of our taxes. It’s a guilt ridden way of getting people to fork over even more money of their purchase (which is supposed to be for helping the community with job training in the first place).
More and more super profitable corps are asking us to donate or round up at checkout. NO THANKS. I will donate to a CHARITY OF MY CHOOSING, keep the records for MY OWN TAX RETURN, and keep it away from big business.
Make no mistake, Goodwill is a very profitable business. The CEO’s salary is well over a million dollars. That’s just…gross.
So while I can appreciate the thrill of the hunt there, it’s become less and less over the yrs. I like the flexible hours vs other charity thrifts in the area. I like the building space, but I miss Lidl so much and would rather have that back! The goodwill auction site GOTTA GO. It’s GREED, pure and simple.
Everyone needs to check out the Totally Free Store. It’s a Shelby gem.

There are TONS of clothes on racks all over the store. You know why? Nobody is buying clothes at this store because who wants to struggle through shirts, pants, etc that are only grouped by color?!! Why aren't they grouped by size, Goodwill Manager? This is a collasal waste of time, my friends and I will never be back.

One of the newest stores & largest in this area. The donuts are made fresh and they were great! I was there on Friday & they were not rolling out a lot of racks so unfortunately I didn’t find much.I cannot wait to go back & hunt again. Employees were very nice

I bought a Blu-Ray Movie still in the plastic and when I opened it all I had was a solid white disc that won’t play at all. It looks like a blank disc. How this was done with plastic still on it is beyond me but they need to check stuff better to prevent this.

A whole lot of nothing. Sure it’s a big store, but the selection is a bunch of cheap junk priced too high. Almost like they’ve picked over anything that’s of value and left the junk for everyone else.

Your staff needs better training from better management. The store would be absolutely perfect. Great selection, clean and organized. Staff could not run a register. Manager was not managing. The kid in the back that sorts through all the stuff was more helpful than anybody in the store. Let him manage it.
