Please don;t let Dr. Kivett treat your horse for a single footed case of laminitis without getting a second opinion from the NCSU/CVM. My mare in foal had an abscess which she mis-diagnosed despite my concern. She clogged the foot and the abscess festered until which time three months later when the hoof was destroyed. The mare had to be euthanized at NCSU-CVM. The NC Veterinary Medical Board did not consult a farrier prior to rendering their decision. Thirty thousand dollars later the horror is still vivid.

Dr Poole has come out before to give my mares chiropractic care. I absolutely loved how her and her tech doted over my girls, they sincerely treated them like their own horses. So when I needed a second opinion on my mare's chronic lameness issue, calling Dr Poole was a no brainer. My only mistake is I should've gone to her first! My mare was originally diagnosed with bone chips from racing. Dr Poole came out and did nerve blocks, determining it was not the bone chips. After xrays and pulling her shoes, it was determined that my mare had a deep bruise in her hoof wall. Not only is my mare sound again, but she is barefoot! Something I thought would never happen! I am incredibly pleased with the detective skills and determination of Dr Poole!

Dr. Kivett is a fabulous asset for the Sandhill’s area. She was able to do the extractions for my gelding that has EOTRH right here in Moore Co rather than needing to haul to the vet school. She and her assistant Kelly also have s tremendous amount of patience since my gelding was less than cooperative about some things.

Foundation Equine is the best vet I’ve ever worked with. Kind, compassionate, very knowledgeable and up to date on treatment options. Always great with the horses and answers questions when I text. 5 stars

This is by far one of the most professional vet practices that I have encountered in over 20 years of horse ownership. Dr. Kivett in particular, as well as every member of her staff with whom I had the pleasure of interacting, is highly knowledgeable, remarkably compassionate and extraordinarily responsive. I was faced with a particularly difficult situation in which my beloved horse whom I had retired to a farm in Sanford, N.C. became seriously ill at 30 years of age. I reside in another state and it was impossible for me to manage the situation in person. I contacted Foundation Equine Clinic and Dr. Kivett responded in short order, conducting a thorough physical and dental examination and recommending relevant diagnostic tests. She kept me apprised of each test result as they came in, and expertly guided me through an analysis of the situation, assisting and enabling me to determine that euthanasia was the reasonable and humane option. She assisted me in coordinating with other service professionals and personally performed the euthanasia. I can't imagine how much more difficult this process would have been but for my good fortune in choosing Dr. Kivett and her practice.
