Went snow tubing for the first time today and it was terrific experience. The lines were short and the service was friendly. The shuttle to and from the parking lot made things a lot easier to navigate as well. Will definitely plan to come back!

We went here the day after beech resort and wish we never wasted our time at beech mountain. We arrived at sugar mountain around 2:30 and the guy helping out with the lines was nice enough to tell us to wait and come back when the open for night skiing to get more for our money. Which we did, and had a great time. It was our first time snowboarding (except our horrible experience at beech). The staff was very helpful and kinda. Unlike beech, this place is very organized with signs everywhere to tell you where to go and what for. We got snowboarding lessons and our instructor was very kind, although it is kind of hard to keep up with the instructor with other people and how fast the instructors move. I would recommend doing a private lesson. Its was a great experience overall.

Got a little crowded with people that don't ski well. But what do you expect in NC. I'll go back!

Never coming back. What should have been an awesome night session was completely ruined by the extremely negligent management here. On our first run, when we got to the top of the main lift, we were literally showered with water by an improperly-adjusted snow machine. Literally like standing in a heavy rainstorm. Our gear was immediately soaked with water, facemask, helmet, goggles, jackets and pants, all soaked with chemical water. Then as we made our way down the slope, it all froze, making it dangerously difficult to see through our goggles. We passed more improperly adjusted snow blowers, had to stop and scrape ice off our googles multiple times. It was miserable. Worst management of any mountain I have ever been to in my life. ... If they hadn't been constantly showering us with water, it would have actually been a good time. ... What really makes me furious, is they didn't even need to make snow, they had plenty, and it snowed for real for most of the day before we arrived.

Noteworthy details: Not a big mountain, but a ski hill nonetheless the less. We are from Florida and love to ski. Snowshoe WV is the biggest in the region but if you don’t have a week, Sugar is a 61/2 hour drive from Florida and a great place to get in some turns. GO SHRED! I’ve heard the kids ski school is exceptional!

Very nice skiing experience for the family. Not too crowded and the lifts keep people moving. Food was good.

As avid snowboarding enthusiasts, our group has frequented the Boone area for several years. Despite hearing mixed reviews about Sugar Mountain Resort, we decided to experience it firsthand. Our visit provided valuable insights, highlighting both strengths and areas for improvement.1. Online Booking and Website DesignUpon researching Sugar Mountain, we encountered an immediate challenge: the absence of a robust online booking system. Unlike other resorts, where lift tickets, equipment rentals, and lessons can be conveniently pre-purchased, Sugar Mountain lacks this feature. Visitors must wait until arrival to secure these essentials. Furthermore, the website design could benefit from enhancements, as critical information was difficult to locate.2. Arrival and Ticketing ProcessOur day began with parking our car and taking the shuttle to the resort entrance. Arriving at the ticket booth around 8:30 AM, we discovered that lift tickets were valid only until 4:30 PM—a departure from the industry norm. Other resorts often include night skiing without additional charges. Splitting our group, some waited for equipment rentals while others anticipated a private lesson. Unfortunately, after a 45-minute wait, we were informed that private lessons were no longer available. The group lesson was scheduled for 2 PM, rendering it impractical due to the lift ticket's expiration time. Clear communication regarding lesson availability would have saved time and frustration.3. Equipment Rental ExperienceThe equipment rental process proved time-consuming, with an approximate 2-hour wait. Efficiency and cleanliness are critical in this area. Some rental gear, particularly helmets, appeared inadequately cleaned. Addressing hygiene standards is essential for guest satisfaction.4. Overall Resort OrganizationOur overall impression of Sugar Mountain was one of chaos. Slopes and lifts lacked organization, impacting the overall experience. Staff members seemed overwhelmed and occasionally annoyed when answering patron queries. Improving staff training and morale would enhance guest interactions. Additionally, the snow conditions during our visit were subpar, although weather-related factors play a role.5. RecommendationsIn light of our experience, we recommend the following:- System Overhaul: Sugar Mountain would benefit from a comprehensive system overhaul. Streamlining operations, enhancing convenience for visitors, and improving communication are essential steps.- Not Ideal for Beginners: Given the resort's current state, we hesitate to recommend it to beginners. However, experienced riders with their own gear may find it less bothersome. In summary, Sugar Mountain Resort has untapped potential. Addressing the highlighted areas would significantly elevate the guest experience. As snowboarding enthusiasts, we hope to witness positive changes in the future.

1. Overly priced for quality of the gear.2. Group instructor wasn’t very attentive and would move on even when others were falling behind or struggling.3. Wore my gear for 15 minutes and realized snowboarding wasn’t for me and showed my time stamp for my class and was told they wouldn’t refund any of the money spent.4. The main deck near the bunny slopes is in desperate need of repair, it’s falling apart and warped and unsafe.5. The whole building is very dated and needs repairs and maintenance.6. You’re forced to buy the lift pass when you take a class even though you only use the conveyor belt once during the class and never actually ride the ski lift.

Sugar top mountain skiing was great. There were longer lines but speaking w many it was an abnormal weekend. We enjoyed the complimentary shuttle service and the skiing was great. Alot of variety. Lines were a little longer for the green slopes but it worked out

Lines for the lifts were 45+ minutes each time you wanted to go anywhere. No area for lessons that were paid forRude ski instructors that make inappropriate comments and berate kids that don't pick up snowboarding quickly. They better people that actually want to help and don't yell at kids or call them names! The only reason I gave a extra star is because the kids had a blast tubing and the guys running it were great.
