This store is temporarily closed AGAIN! AND AGAIN DUE TO NO AIR - same as last year! Did they never get it fixed last year or is this a new issue? Can't get a hold of corporate to complain so who knows how long this store is going to remain closed this time? Seems like over the past year this store has been closed as much as it's been open. I would really hate to see it go as I've been coming here since it opened and live close by, but you never know when it's going to be open anymore. I will admit though that the store has been cleaner and better stocked than some of the previous reviews show, but there are still issues at times with big trolleys full of product laying around.

I have been coming to this Dollar General since the store first opened. I practically live next door, so it is fair to say that I used to come here nearly every day. Sadly, I've found myself trying to avoid stopping here in the last year or so, and it only gets worse.First off, the staff is abysmal from the top to the bottom. The manager is frequently just standing around texting, searching the internet on his phone, or taking a nice and lengthy smoke break outside. They are often not found at the front registers (they really appreciate the single self-checkout line), and normally that would be fine, because you would assume they are stocking shelves or handling other responsibilities, but you would sadly be mistaken. Oftentimes, the only way to find an employee is by yelling multiple times until someone slowly starts to walk to the front counter. Thankfully, this normally doesn't affect me, as I use the self checkout. But it is frustrating having to watch so many friendly customers go out of their way to find assistance.Due to the lazy employees who apparently have never picked up a mop or broom in their lives, I wouldn't expect much of an experience in the customer service department. It's not uncommon to find all the employees outside, discussing the latest gossip and complaining about their work hours while dragging down a delicious stick of tobacco.Back to the mop and broom comment, this store looks like it hasn't been cleaned since management changed. As seen in the photographs uploaded, the large stain with the wet floor sign is still there as I type this review, and has been there since early October. The wet sign was finally taken down after three weeks, but the stain still remains. I am not overexaggerating when I say that this store HAS NOT BEEN MOPPED OR CLEANED in MONTHS. It's a disgusting experience, and I guess the employees would rather just fill the aisles with unpacked inventory and product instead of actually doing their jobs and cleaning. Aisles are extremely tight and littered with trash...**cough**...I mean "product" they are trying to sell to the customer. It's hard to distinguish between the two at times in this store. You would normally think it couldn't get much worse, but in recent weeks, it simply has. Now employees apparently just don't remove inventory from their boxes anymore. As shown in the photos, now we just take product from the vendors and chuck them in the freezers. This store has absolutely ZERO concern about the customer experience, and it is proudly on display. They should honestly just shut down the store instead of disgracing the community.Avoid coming here unless it's a must.

I have taken the time to repost this review, as it seems someone had the original taken down. Condition of store is steadily decreasing. No responses from corporate. It's sad to such a good community store go down the drain due to lazy/poor work ethic. When female manager was confronted about the condition of the store, her excuses were asinine. Her response to the store being filthy and never mopped/swept was, "Well, none of us here mop, we don't have the time"....Wow.They don't have time to do their core responsibilities, but one of their employees has time to bring a puppy to work, play with the puppy behind the register, take the puppy on a walk while he's on the clock. They have time for several smoke breaks outside, or standing behind the counter to spread the latest gossip and complain about the condition of their job.EXCUSES. Nothing but excuses. Pathetic management team. Pathetic employees. Garbage attitudes and environment.Take more pride in your work, or try harder and find a better job.

went by this store this morning and sign says it is open at 7 am. I went by at 730 am and store was still closed even though lights were on. Seems like staff turnover is high in this store. I am in this store fairly often and they can't seem to keep staff

I have personally never understood the Dollar General/Tree/Rack/Hut/Place business model, but apparently it's a freaking sweet one since these things are the retail equivalent of weeds (popping up everywhere). This particular Thomasville location was a bit of a mess... literally and figuratively. I visited because I needed to send a Fed Ex parcel and I saw online that this location has Fed Ex OnSite. This doesn't really mean anything, but we'll get to that. I walked in and the store was a bit of a disaster. You know how patrons walk around picking up things, they usually haphazardly put them down again without much consideration as to how they should be arranged, and an employee has to go behind them tidying up? It looked like that last step wasn't really happening here, and that the Tasmanian Devil was the chief merchandiser. I wasn't aware that folks commonly fill entire shopping carts while shopping at dollar stores. That's fine, but the checkouts are more like what you would find at convenience stores and not really designed to handle large volumes of items in a fast and efficient manner. 2-3 people with carts and you've got yourself a long and time consuming line, especially when only one register is open and the guy operating that register is more focused on complaining loudly to his other coworkers that he was supposed to be off 5 minutes ago. By the way, all of these coworkers could clearly see the line and that their comrade needed help. Even after he started asking them to jump on another register, they hem-hawed around while asking things like "Well what about what's her face? She has a till open." Then they started talking loudly about what's her face's login info so someone else could login to her register. Fortunately, I was taking the day off from robbing stores, but I can't promise the same for the other 6-7 customers that were also privy to this conversation. The register situation still hadn't been figured out when I reached the front of the line, and it was still the same sad dude that at this point was supposed to have been off 30 minutes ago. All I needed was to return my items via Fed Ex and I had the original box and a newly printed return label in hand. Overtime Dude looked at me like I was insane and told me that they only accepted packages that were 100% ready to go. Well, joke's on me and I take the blame because I hadn't actually researched Fed Ex On-site. Apparently, it means that the package has to be completely sealed with the label taped to the package and in a state that is essentially ready to put in the hands of the Fed Ex man/woman. No other help/services rendered. Ah well. My next stop was an actual Fed Ex store where I handed the lady my box and label exactly as I had handed it to Overtime Randy at this Dollar General, she thanked me, and looked up a second time as if to question why I was still standing there. Meanwhile, I still haven't figured out the point of Fed Ex OnSite at Dollar General locations. Here's to hoping that Overtime Randy finally got to go home.
