We brought our elderly pup to the hospital last weekend. We had a feeling due to his age, we may have to make some hard decisions. Unfortunately, we had to and our sweet baby crossed the rainbow. The staff was so kind and supportive during our time of grief. We received a card from the staff today to acknowledge our grief and loss, it was such a simple gesture but was so incredibly appreciated. We loved our boy “Hunter” and wish we could have had a lifetime more with him. Thank you to the entire staff for your kindness during such a difficult time for our family.

The staff here saved my dogs life. I called on the way with my German Shepherd, suspecting bloat. They let me know they’d triage her and depending on that, what the wait would be.I barely started the intake paperwork and they wanted to get eyes on. Pretty much took her back from there. Timing is everything with GDV. After X-ray confirmation I was informed of my options and agreed with surgery. They called and provided updates, very informative and kind check out.Yes it was an expensive, invasive surgery at an EMERGENCY vet clinic. I expected it to cost what it cost. 5/5 stars.

I had to bring my kitty because he wasn’t urinating. I was in the middle of a move and my animals had only been to one vet in their life, who was many hours away- so I was extremely nervous. The staff was very understanding of this and very helpful.Astro was taken care of by Dr. Banta on his first night and she was great and very thorough about explaining what was going on with him.He did have to come back the next night, I don’t remember who all worked with him, but he is doing much better now.Thank you to everyone there!

In February 2022 our 13 yr. Old dog had a stroke in the middle of the night.. I called Vass and was told there was a 3 hour wait. He was put down the next day at our vet. 6 months later my elderly neighbor had her old German shephard developed bloat. I called Vass for her and was told they had a 3 hour wait. On Friday night I called Vass because our new puppy was not doing well after being neutered, I was told that the wait was 3 hours so we went instead this AM. 1/28/24 and we were the only people there and it took 30 minutes for help. Our pup did not cooperate with the fecal exam in the back of our car because he was so stressed at that point, but the techs were not friendly or understanding and the “girl” at the front desk looked so annoyed that she had to do any work at all! I’ve been in N.C. for 2 years and all I can say is the ER system here is terrible.

Our dog had a mouth issues so we took him in late Friday night. The staff was very friendly and did everything they could to ensure our dog was taken care of. Our dog needed surgery to remove a lump in his mouth. They kept us informed throughout the entire process. Finally, their prices were very reasonable for an emergency room. I never felt like I was being “nickel and dimed” or upsold things we didn’t need. Thank you again to everyone there the night of January 12th.

This place has the most heartless staff. I walked in with my dog, who is dying of old age, and talked to the guy at the front trying to tell him what was going on and all he kept repeating was “we close in an hour” and “it’s going to be $200 just for me to see her”. You can clearly tell I was distraught because I was already crying knowing I have to put down my family member and this guy had no compassion at all and was more worried about getting other dogs in than helping me. I would not recommend this vet. 0/5 stars.

We bought a puppy for Christmas for our kids. We only had her for 3-4 days. Only to notice she had started having diarrhea and vomiting. My first thought was parvo. We contacted Small Animal and they told us to come straight over. We got her there, they did the test for parvo and it was positive. These people sold us a sick puppy?. They treated our sick girl. We got her home and took care of her there. Thank you Small Animal Emergency Service. She is already up and running after 24 hrs. Definitely recommend you guys. Love and licks from CoCo Chanel for saving her life. ?

I think when you're in a vulnerable situation, especially because our pets are exactly like family, you want to go somewhere that is honest, reliable, and understanding. Unfortunately, last night and today, our family felt let down at this facility. My mother spoke to Ryan, in which, he said we could pay on care credit in morning then would refund us in a check form, as our family was paying with any credit cards and any funding they had to save our dog, chevy's life; however, after our family spoke to Allan Rose, the manager, he refused, and said "I don't know why they would tell you that but have a good day." I think it's devastating and confusing enough to try and do the best you can to save your dog (family member), but there was no compassion, sympathy, or alternatives offered. Please please take caution.**PS I read "follow ups" from the clinic themselves in regards to other negative reveiws from previous clients and they state they're "emotionally driven", again, take caution when accountability is neglected and not actual understanding. Facts are facts.

Let me start off by saying that as far as the well-being of my dog, I cannot speak to yet since I literally just left a few hours ago, but I am in high hopes he will be fine. The picture below was taken before the surgery. Now the staff was very friendly and compassionate. Dr. Turner was knowledgeable and thorough in her explanations. I want to give a big shout out to Ryan who handled my dog mostly and he was very nice and super friendly . He treated my dog like it was his own .The waiting time is like any ER not favorable but that’s just the nature of it I suppose.

All of the employees were very compassionate. On 6/12/2023 we had to take our beloved Coco in. They immediately took her back. We were placed in a private room while the doctor assessed Coco. The doctor came out and explained everything and gave options. He was very patient and compassnate. They gave my children and I all the time we needed to be with her after she was at rest. They made one of the hardest decisions that I've ever had to make a little confronting. They also sent a letter of condolence for our loss. I pray that I will never have to go through this again. However I recommend this place for there love, patience and compassion. Thank you so very much.

my wife and I took our 3 year old cat to the small animal emergency services in Vass N.C. on 4-24-23. our cat suddenly stopped eating was lethargic. our normal vet was closed so we went here. this place opens at 6pm. we were there at 5:15pm. The first to arrive there. by the time the door opened there were several other people and animals there also. we checked in and started waiting. They got busy fast and the one vet seemed to be overwhelmed. They called in another vet. her name was Dr. Whitehead our vet for the night. We were the only persons with a cat except a young couple with a very small kitten, they eventually left without being seen. Well we were there for six hour, we had to ask for x-rays and blood work. Dr.Whitehead finally told all she could do was give our cat antibiotics and fluids just kinda wait and see until the am. at that time he would be taken to our vet for them to monitor him for a few day. She had absolutely no personality and was very unprofessional. Whitehead finally told us (They don’t see many cats). REALLY then they should put a sign up saying NO CAT. we had them call Blue Pearle in Cary. So we went to Blue Pearl and got outstanding service. I have never given a one star review before, the girl at the front desk was very nice and that’s about all I can say about SMALL ANIMAL SERVICES in Vass N.C. they should return my 550 plus dollars because they gave us no service. I will say the dogs seemed to be treated ok. too bad I can’t give negative stars. I love all animals dog, cats you name i I guess some people don’t feel the same. Dr. Whitehead is not cat friendly and seemed very untrained. what a waste of time, money and almost my cat’s life.

My almost 15 year old dog started getting progressively weaker last week so we took him here on Saturday. We were called back rather quickly (10 minutes or so) and seen by Dr. Whitehead (who was amazing). She told us bluntly, yet kindly what our options were and said she supported us with any option. We unfortunately had to put our boy to rest due to cancer and fluid being discovered in his chest cavity during the visit. Throughout the entire process everyone was so kind and we were able to do it all with him in my lap. The day was an incredibly difficult one, but the kindness of the team helped tremendously and brought me a lot of closure. I would recommend this vet to anyone!

Dog ate baby wipes!. Called and told to get her there immediately, and they would try to get her to vomit as time was of the essence. Left immediately and Arrived within 30 minutes. Told there would be an hour wait to be seen!!! Emergency does not apply here!!!! Responding to the comments of the owner of the facility. There were two other patients when I arrived. Rather than questioning me further about my dog's condition, they just handed me some papers to complete. After I returned the paperwork, they just stared as if I were invisible. When I again explained that they had previously said that we had two hours to treat her without surgery, and that the clock was ticking, that's when they said that there was "at least" a one hour wait. Luckily, I was able to get her seen by an Emergency Vet in Raleigh who actually treated the situation as an emergency. The were able to get her to vomit the baby wipes, and she's doing well. Amazed that your response was not trying to determine how the situation could have been handled better, but blame the dog's owner!!! Many pet owning friends have also commented to me about this facility, and they weren't positive comments. Lesson learned, and the next time it's straight to the emergency vet in Raliegh!!
