Our dog Ladybug, had torn her TPLO in 2021 and then tore her other TPLO in 2023. Both surgeries were done by Dr. Gulledge and his amazing team. Not only were they extremely informative and kept us aware every step of the way, but they truly love and cared about our fur baby, which made all the difference. She is now fully recovered and is like a brand new dog. We couldn't be more grateful!

Original post Date: 02/2023Updated: 01/2024We live in New York City, and we are here in Wilmington visiting family. We had an emergency last Tuesday at 2am. With our 8-year-old female French Bulldog Abby when she woke up with her back legs paralyzed. We were all kind of freaking out, not knowing what to do. Jumped on Google Maps and searched for the nearest 24-hour hospital, and ECVR popped up. We rushed our baby girl to ECVR, and from the front desk to the doctor, everybody was so nice, caring, and very attentive to our baby girl's needs. The staff worked quickly and was able to tell us what was going on with Abby, providing a diagnosis and next steps. They truly went out of their way to help us find the nearest neurosurgeon, which happened to be 4 hours away in Charlotte, North Carolina. They called and gave CARE (Charlotte Animal Referral & Emergency) the heads up and arranged to expect us at 7am.Everyone we came across presented themselves very professionally and went out of their way to make sure we got the help our baby girl needed. We are truly thankful for everybody's kindness and caring hearts! We definitely recommend ECVR for any kind of needs you may have for your fur baby.

I paid $200 for a 2 minute consultation where I was quoted $4000 to $5000 for my dogs surgery. I can not afford that, their response was-- we take credit cards. I found another vet to perform the surgery. TOTAL my bill with Elizabethtown vet hospital was $1200 which includes the consult and overnight stay. Do not go Emergency vet referral unless you want to pay 4x more than what it normally costs. Complete robbery!

Gina Scarzella is a terrible vet tech. She spoke down to me like I couldn't understand her "intelligence" level. My dog came in with severe dehydration as he was not eating or drinking for a week. (They put three days). At first she said there was no signs of dehydration until I brought up he hadn't consumed water in a week, then she went back on her word and said "well minimal dehydration". I had to ask them to give him fluids. When I finally received my dog he looked 10 times better. Do not recommend this vet.Edit: my dog passed away and then afterwards I was informed of a "spinal condition" they said was just arthritis.

HORRIBLE ANIMAL HOSPITAL!!!! Told us to wait in the car after we ran here because are dog could not breathe. Told us to wait outside because our dog “could” be contagious??? He was wheezing and hyperventilating and they would not treat him. After an hour they came to our car and “treated him” from our car? Gave us a random medicine that would stop his cough and charged us A FORTUNE for there “procedures”. How can you look at my dog from the car and say you treated him???? NEVER come here again if you want your animals to feel better and healthy.

Incredibly disrespectful staff who would much rather stuff their pie holes with food at the front desk instead of actually helping us properly. Also adding medication costs to our bill without even consulting us about it first is beyond outrageous and unprofessional. DO NOT GIVE A SINGLE PENNY TO THESE CON ARTISTS.

I got HANDS DOWN the most attentive and empathetic care from Dr. Tuner's office in the ECVR. But not only her office, but other specialists in the building such as the anesthesiologists, and the intern oncologist treated me and my pup better than I have EVER been treated anywhere before. Like they truly care. Dr. Turner and Garrett were so very concerned for the well being and diagnosis of my dog. I can not be thankful enough that I was referred to them for the ultrasound Meko needed. I wouldn't go to anyone else.

On 12/2023 We brought in my three year old, pitbull to be seen because she was acting a little funny. I want to point out that we have had star since she was five weeks old and I bottle fed her. She is my baby. She is part of the glue that holds my family together. Unbeknownst to us she had something called a pyometra. An infection in the uterus. *Needed life-saving emergency surgery. Of course when we find this out, we are devastated, saddened, shocked. Then the vet tells us the surgery will cost $7500. Now me and my husband are regular people we we live paycheck to paycheck and we work really hard to live paycheck to paycheck. We asked them if there was some sort of a payment plan that we could work out with them. Receptionist tells us that we could apply for these couple programs that they have it. Unfortunately, we did not qualify. So again we beg the vet can you please work with us please do a payment plan is there something anything that we can do? Without hesitation, Vet says no, no payment plan but if you want to try to find a primary Vet that maybe they could do the surgery for cheaper. REMEMBER this a a weekend. Oh, and she was also kind enough to suggest that maybe we should take out a personal loan. I asked if she could recommend a vet and her exact response was there’s about 15 vets in the area and they’re all pretty good. They sent us home with some antibiotics to hopefully buy sometime so we can find someone to perform the life-saving surgery. So we go home and start calling everywhere that pops up on Google. Long story short we found Hampstead animal hospital at 3:30 PM. We called them explain the situation vet said they close at 6 PM but they would stay over and do the surgery. The vet and her anesthesiologist stayed until 10 o’clock saving my dogs life. cleaning up after surgery and consoling us, her scared guilt riddled, worried parents. We understand that this is 100% our fault that this happened to star. We understand if we would’ve had her spayed. This would’ve never happened and for that we will forever beat ourselves up for. It was a scary painful lesson. I understand that people have to make a living and things cost money. But it makes me SICK that you people take advantage of pet owners, at their most vulnerable position. SHAME ON YOU!!!! You charged us over $900 Just tell us what wrong and some VERY over priced antibiotics that we were told BY YOUR STAFF that they probably not even work. Hampstead animal hospital charged us a fraction of $7500 to SAVE HER LIFE! I will tell every pet owner that I meet to never ever ever ever ever ever bring their pets here. Not unless you’re looking for non-compassionate, rude and don’t forget the most important GREEDY vet. If you’re looking for a kind, compassionate, caring, funny, regular, hard working, down to earth vet go see Dr. Bradler at Hampstead animal Hospital. Eastern Carolina veterinary referral you probably won’t, but I hope you do better. Given it’s December maybe a new year new you kind of approach.

It’s funny how after posting a negative review my dogs chewy diet prescription was authorized. They also stated that they do not reach out to customers to follow up on pet’s conditions due to high volumes of customers. Well when I was there I saw a lot of down time with staff just doing nothing.Another big Joke was how they commented on how they need to widen the price range for certain customers and look at their structure. It’s all about the money and price gorging. It’s funny how they have someone to write off excuses and make the customer look like they are the bad person and out of touch. They pay someone to write a response to all there reviews to make themselves look like they are the victim and have done nothing wrong .The more they come back at me the more I will write.
