Foundation ruins are overgrown with weeds, the signage is unrecognizable for the most part...Visit Moore's Creek Battlefield and compare the difference in the two sites.

Really cool site. First place of action against the British Stamp Act; hence, the first action of the American Revolution! If you're there the weekend after Halloween, they blow up pumpkins with a charge like the torpedoes would have been made during the Revolution.

Really beautiful area to take a walk and appreciate the history and people that lived, and died, there. The signs along the walking path need some updating as the current ones are mostly illegible. The staff was terrific and knowledgeable. We will definitely be back

Wow! just wow! There is a museum tour and a cute gift shop - the people working there really love the history of the place! You can walk the loop for free and with pets! It's absolutely beautiful to make it a picnic day and enjoy the background of Brunswick.Highly recommend ??

We enjoyed the self guided tour of Brunswick Town and Ft. Anderson. We started at the visitor’s center, where we chatted with the staff about how to see everything. She told us that there was a group of archeology students with their professors who were excavating one of the old buildings. We later talked with them as we walked through the old town.We started with the indoor displays which told the history of the town and the fort, with artifacts and pictures. We then took the walking path, which is paved all the way around the site. It circles around and back to the visitors center, making it a pleasant walk. There is a low area with swamps beside the path, where alligators are sometimes seen. All we saw, however, was a small garter snake that was about two feet long.In addition to the foundations of the old buildings, you can see the embankments that were built as part of the old fort. There are some cannons which show how the fort was defended. As we circled back to the start we came to the St. Phillips Anglican Church ruins. We spent about an hour or so, and we could have stayed longer if we had the time.Enjoy your visit and take a trip back in time.

This is a great visit for anyone who loves history! They have an awesome museum and a walking trail with real ruins from the 1700's and 1800's. The best part about it is it is free!!!

For such an historical place what a shame. How about rebuild a ruin let us see what it was like. Just old bricks and use to be. Sad #1 port in United States at one time. Confederate fort. Home to N.C Governors. Etc. This place is so rich in history it deserves to be more. But hey N.C is lacking compared to other states. So if you want to look at old bricks and use your imagination this might be the place for you.... It could be so much more.

This is a great visit for anyone who enjoys American history. It might not be as well known as other historical spots, but it holds significance to our country’s founding. The museum was informative and the grounds were well taken care of, it was all really fascinating. I really hope they can get more funding and keep excavating. I really enjoyed learning about the burned church and the Spanish cannons they pulled from the water. There’s a walk around the ruins that’s a little less than a mile.

Had an awesome time sharing this experience with my family. There's alot to see here. A gorgeous path through history showing the remnants of houses from the past. A video inside giving you the lowdown of the area. A Picknic area for eating lunch and public bathrooms that are well kept. And a small but informing and beautiful museum sections thats has multiple items on display. It was a great time and really recommend it for other families! Thank you!❤❤❤

I absolutely LOVE visiting here. There's so much of our state's early history almost everywhere you look. Very interesting museum exhibits, and a friendly staff that will always answer any questions you may have. Go during the week if you can. Fewer people around.**I only have one concern.** The Cape Fear river is getting dangerously close to the powder magazine of Fort Anderson. Ships passing by are also not under any kind of wake restriction. If this erosion is allowed to continue, the physical structure of the fort itself will be (possibly irreparably) damaged. I wish the state of North Carolina would take the preservation of this site far more seriously. We can't afford to lose any more of our history.

I've been wanting to visit this place for several years now. Free to enter (donation box in the visitors center). Nice exhibit area in the visitor center. The church is the most intact structure. All the others are remnants of homes. Walkway takes you around the town, and finally around the earthen mounds of Fort Anderson. While I was there today, it was like I was the only person there. Peaceful and quiet (and hot!) during my stroll around.
