I have been to the Carmax in Winston-salem and Greensboro...I can always find a great deal at a reasonable price. A rep by the name of Jacob was AWESOME! Very personable and explained everything.

They sold my wife and I 2020 Kia Telluride with 56k miles on it. Car looked great. My wife loved it.. but they charged her entirely too much for it. Also, it has been in the shop more than it has been on the road. We haven’t even got to keep it at our house and drive it because it has been in the shop so much. I’m pretty sure they sold us a lemon.

Let me start by saying that if BW Automotive (North or South locations) would have had what I was looking for I wouldn't have hesitated to get It from them due to there extremely competitive price and AMAZING customer service. They also have their own shop (BW Auto Shop)! CarMax: Solid experience. I have sold a vehicle to them before (super simple) and purchased a vehicle before (similar to this experience). For the first time I paid to ship a vehicle here and was relatively simple. Luckily I used the app because even with my long history with them my number was one digit off and was never contact via email or app that my car arrived so it fell on my shoulders to monitor and call. Unfortunately the vehicle had window tint that had to be removed for state inspection but rather than installing the NC legal 32% back on since vehicle advertised (pictures) with tint they just removed it. Everyone at CarMax on all three of my experience have been outstanding but their detailing is terrible. Both my cars I have bought needed about 5 hours of additional detailing. Lack of detail can hide issues that they could have easily fixed and since I paid to ship a car I would have appreciated maybe a little extra initial focus. Took about 4.5 hrs to purchase. I did a online trade quote (multiple places and all about the same give or take $700) but didn't inform them of that and they came back $1,400 less but notated nothing deducted (so why the difference) luckily they stepped up and approved it (I would have walked out of they didn't). I mentioned my trade still had there warranty but they told me to call them but CarMax warranty site says call OR contact dealer to cancel and get prorated warranty. It's a diesel and they failed to fill up the diesel exhaust fluid which is only at 1/4 tank. All in all a positive experience. I still have A return window in case it doesn't work out and I do have some items to address.

Stressful. It was supposed to be quick and easy. Just come and sign they said. Just drive it home they said. My car was dirty. Have no idea last oil change or inspection…. Also, my car was never driven to be checked out cause of it had been they would have noticed the extreme pull to the right and completed an alignment before I showed up to take my car. I am also already having engine problems with it. Just super not happy

Sales Team was great, I worked with Lee in Winston Salem. Very knowledgeable and amazing with communication and follow-up. My only point of feedback was that the vehicle was not properly detailed. In the lining/crevices of the seats there were crumbs and dust. On the side of the front seats in the carpet there were crumbs (a lot) as well as change from prior owners. It was something that just happened, and more like it accumulated over time. A new car, even if used should have the best detailing technique applied and I think they really dropped the ball here. I would use them again, as a place to purchase from, but will make sure the car is properly detailed/cleaned.

I haven't bought a car yet but I walked in today to take a look around. While I was fully expecting the normal salesmen act of being pushy and hovering, I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to look at their lot without pressure, hassle or hovering. After maybe 10-20 minutes, Mike came out to check on me.Mike answered all my questions. He wasn't nosey or pushy. He let me take the lead in conversation. In a world where women are told and taught to be super defensive and on guard in public, especially in a male dominated company such as car sales, I only felt at ease and welcomed.I hope in the near future to purchase a vehicle here.
