We stayed in an Antique Room in the Manor House and had a magical stay. Every detail in our room was gorgeous but the bathroom was especially beautiful. Every staff member we encountered was accommodating and friendly. We started planning a return trip before we even loaded up our bags to leave.

I had my credit cards stolen today by the housekeeping. This saddens me to a great extent as I did not expect this to happen in a wonderful hotel like this.Safety: Got credit cards stolen, able to reverse some transactions but still down by 200 bucks atleast

I can only rate the grounds, as a frequent walker of them. They are bucolic, sumptuous, and restorative, capturing something of an English manor estate, tucked compactly and artfully into a fairly urban setting.Walkability: Connected directly via beautiful trails to Wake Forest University campus.

Great place in perfect location with expansive manicured grounds. Professional and attentive staff did a great job during our three-day stay. Had the good fortune to meet Mark the AGM, and he is an impressive guy who has assembled an excellent staff. This historically significant place is well-managed and architecturally impressive. Highly recommended.

I have lived in Winston Salem, NC, my whole life and Graylyn will remain one of my favorite places. The property is very easy to walk and well maintained. I bring my dog here on a regular basis and let her play in the front lawn. Also a great spot to have picnics in the front lawn during the warmer months.Nearby activities: Easy to walk across Reynolda Road and explore Reynolda Village!Safety: Extremely safe property. Located in the center of one of the nicer parts of Winston Salem so no need to fear about safety.Walkability: Extremely easy to walk around. The property has a few small "hills" but nothing difficult.

Pair of dirty old socks sticking out from under the bed and a few goldfish crackers scattered about definitely makes me question the cleanliness, especially for the price you are paying. Bed frame sticks out around the corners and will annihilate your knee caps/chins. The grounds are VERY nice. The rooms are… sub-par. I’ve had better/CLEANER stays in a Holiday Inn Express…Again, for the price… meh… total disappointment:/

This is an impressive historical hotel. To fully appreciate this place, you should learn about Mr. and Mrs. Gray and their family and also how they built up the Gray House. I had the opportunity to listen to their history from Grays' Butler who was a great story teller. Spending time in rooms that are decorated with 16th and 17th-century art was a unique experience. Persian room was very interesting and was a big surprise to find here. The mansion has a huge garden which is great for walking. The staff was very kind and respectful. The complimentary morning coffee and butterscotch cookies are great. There is a famous ice cream room that is available for 24 hours which is really a mini freezer full of free, average ice creams. Also, each room is unique. We enjoyed our time here at Graylyn Estate in Manor House. We will definitely come back.

I called to cancel a reservation and was giving the room to a friend since it was paid for. I called 8 times before the arrival, they never called back until the following week and it was too late so was out $1000.The manager, Mark Mcfetridge, felt I should have called before the weekend to discuss this but I did many times and they never called me back and blame me. So they booked the room and got paid twice and I'm out $1000. Very frustrating.Terrible customer service. The rooms are run down and gym is useless but it is a pretty property.Rooms: Rooms are run down, on the dirty side.

Excellent. But if you stay in the historical part of the Mews, a stable, be very careful. The doors were very small, with a non-standard step up and then a large drop-off on the other side. It would be very easy to fall and badly hurt yourself. Ask for the new rooms. Our room was very large with windows on three sides and a large bathroom. I suggest you ask for help with luggage. You can drive into the Mews to handle luggage, but it is still a chore with a cobblestone drive. The Mews is almost a half mile from the main house. Breakfast was a decent eggs Benedict with excellent coffee. The maple smoked bacon was inedible with tons of fat and maple flavor.Rooms: Rooms are inserted into historic structures without compromising the structural integrity, so you make the necessary accommodations.Safety: Watch out for the historic rooms.Food & drinks: Breakfast is ok, but the enclosed patio area is totally not private - everyone can hear everything. The apprentice servers (college students?) can made stupid blunders, but the pro is very good.Noteworthy details: This is an eccentric rich old mans house built in the early 20th century to look much older. It certainly looks historic after being rebuilt after a fire. But it should have been brought up to more modern standards as a hotel at that time - why was the old mans architecture to be saved while preserving and risks for modern patrons? It is still a lot if fun to explore the odd rooms above and under the main floor. There are several old outbuildings used for guests. The outdoor pool is very nice.
