I’ve donated for years and the one time I’ve fallen into bad times I can’t even get them to pick up the phone and return my call.

Called for the Angel Program and it was a waste of time. I just gained custody of my grandson and his school gave me this link on Dojo. By the time you receive these posts, they're usually expired. What resources do a legal guardian have in Winston Salem? His dad passed away on September 16, 2022. Not only I'm I having a hard time with MY emotions, but I have to keep it together for his two sons. Life is tough with a kid who's mom abandoned him and his dad gone. But I give all the glory to God. I'm taking baby steps with Khi, and thanking God for the tools and bond I am creating with him. But blessed Salvation army and continue your good works. That post was on a day I was feeling hopeless. But it gets greater later.?

The shelter does absolutely nothing to aid their clients. The shelter manager is mean as ever and the social worker is just PR for random businesses. The only time he smiles is for PR on Facebook. Don’t even get me started with the lady who answers the phones in the day time; she’s terrible. They don’t help with anything. The meals are old and nasty. They kick their clients out during the day (including infants and toddlers, disabled seniors) no matter the weather (90+ d). Outside food isn’t allowed but the meals are not baby weaning or toddler friendly. There are no resources to move clients into permanent housing. No help with child care. They provide us with a place to sleep for 90 days and then place us right back on the street where they found us.UPDATE: 7/23/2023 IN RESPONSE TO RECENT REPLY.1) Rules, policies and procedures to keep residents safe? What is safe about children overheating in the boiling hot sun while your employees sit in the cool office watching Netflix? What’s safe about serving us old left overs every weekend? This weekend we ate left overs from MONDAY and TUESDAY. I’ll attach the pictures of the nasty old meals we were served.2) The past two weeks there has been a lot of movement in the offices. The center manager has quit, thankfully. Now the higher ups are running around pretending to be helping. However we were left outside in 91 degree weather until 4:30pm. Again, IT IS TOO HOT FOR TODDLERS AND INFANTS TO BE LEFT OUTSIDE!!! When are you going to take this seriously? Are you waiting for one of them to be admitted to the hospital?3) The kitchen area is disgusting. When is the centipede infestation going to be addressed? The fecal matter on the walls of the restroom stalls? I have pictures that I will gladly submit to the health department.

Can be helpful if you have all your documents. The receptionist is not playing.

Would not recommend to anyone as a shelter to help you work toward housing. The "social worker" doesn't do anything she's supposed to,the food is usually old and gross if not just a sandwich and your not allowed to bring in your own food. They continually caused me to leave early with a baby because they would threaten my place in the shelter if my daughter woke after 6am and I needed to feed her. No heat or air or even vents in the rooms had to pay for my own heater which if your homeless you really can't afford that and don't get me started on how disgusting of a person the director is

Dropped off some extra gifts for our Senior Angel that were left behind from Christmas. Did you know that there are Senior as well as Children Angels? We enjoyed buying for our Senior Angels and wrapping their gifts and delivering them too. A lovely program.
